Re: Can't assume anything can we

I'd have looked for the nearest hand-pump station/hose if it was on a farm... unless the area was known to have poor groundwater. But if I had to shell out big $ for a drink, I'd make sure I got a good one for the money!

For the same or a little more, I'd go for the lite beer or diet soda.
I would have settled for an outdoor spicked but there were none even the hand washing stations outside the animal areas has no water just wipes and waterfree hand washing stuff. Bathrooms were a long walk away and the sinks were too short for my water bottle as I tried that method with all the times i had to take mother in them. even she cut back on her coffee intake cause of the farness of the bathrooms.
That gave me a good giggle, 2Big. Maybe we can suggest that as a way to cut the caffeine intake for Induction? "If you choose to drink caffeinated beverages, you must walk around the block 1 time before you can go to the bathroom?"

If the weather clears up this weekend, I'm headed up Boonie's way for the Renaissance Festival. The last time I was there, a vendor was hawking beef jerky at the Joust Tournament with the call "Beef Jerky! Lord Atkins approveth! Beef Jerky!"

they had long hoses running from all the places I knew in the park that had water normally to the venders for the event. I did check it out when i saw a big green hose and followed it back thingking I was going to find a free water station grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. As I said I could have bougth much soda cheaper then water but being the good Atkineer I was i bought a l44 ounce water in a cup and until we were leaving and I bounced the cup down the stairs getting the wheel chair down them I gaurded it well.

needless to say i was floating away before my burger arrived at dinner on the way home.

Re: Can't assume anything can we

I have gone to the animal areas taken one of the sanitary wipes (I always keep with me) ...wiped down faucet/basin /nozzle whatever I am concerned with ...(actually I do this where ever I am)...then filled my bottles there before I figure between the wipes and letting the water run for a min the germs are gone....

as a kid I used to pick a hose up from a barn floor where I used to clean stalls and just drink it ..funny I never got sick ....and I am sure Ecoli and salmonella were around then ..but now I use wipes ....

oh another water anywhere with out buying it...I also have those straws that will filter water for you ....and when I travel out of the country and it is really questionable I take my backpacking filter ..it is tiny and really easy to use ....and very effective ...I can filter water from anywhere just about and be safe now ...the quality of these tiny water filters and the price are both great now ..

Heidi, I saw those once a long time ago 80's-90's, but have'nt seen them since. Where do you find them? They or something else to purify water should be in everyones preparedness kit.

Re: Can't assume anything can we

you can get backpacking water filters/sometimes the straws at any outdoor store as far as I know like GI Joes, REI, Campmore, LLBean they all seem to have various kinds ..I can not remember the brand name of the one I have is "First Need" I think
they run $30 up to a gazillion dollars I am sure ...I have had my filter for a long long time it was the one Consumer reports advised about back then ..I think it is ok I have not gotten sick ...I do however change my filter every year or sooner if I use it a lot

now that straw is a cool thing to have when doing things with somebody who has alzheimers which is like having a 2 yr old you can't put in time out and is too big to carry when they don't want to go where you need to go and you can't leave them.
