I started out well, kept weight off for a year, and the past month or so, I am falling apart- and no I haven't been exercising either. What should I do??

Re: Did well at first, but having trouble sticking to plan now
I am being tempted by things I shouldn't have like eating PB out of the jar, fried chicken fingers instead of salad with grilled chicken, and I just ate a peice of dessert. It seems like once I do that, it gets worse and worse.Originally posted by CalicoPrairie View PostWhat exactly is the problem? How are you falling apart?

Re: Did well at first, but having trouble sticking to plan now
Yep that makes sense because you are eating simple carbs which are probably feeding the cravings, as well as creating them. If you want to do Atkins, you need to stop right now and start a clean induction to get your body back into ketosis. At least that's what I would do. HTH!~Kristi

Re: Did well at first, but having trouble sticking to plan now
The sugar in the peanut butter, the sugar in the dessert, and the coating on the chicken fingers--unless there isn't any sugar and coating--in which case all of those things are probably fine to eat.
The next thing to address would be why are you eating that way, and why are you feeling so hungry?~Kristi

Re: Did well at first, but having trouble sticking to plan now
I think it started with the PB - I just wanted that flavor- Like I licked the knife from making kid sandwiches and I just wanted it- and one thing led to another (ie the dessert). I seemed to do ok with the occassional chicken finger or mozzarella stick.Originally posted by CalicoPrairie View PostThe sugar in the peanut butter, the sugar in the dessert, and the coating on the chicken fingers--unless there isn't any sugar and coating--in which case all of those things are probably fine to eat.

Re: Did well at first, but having trouble sticking to plan now
Let me ask--have you read DANDR 2002? (I'm assuming you did since you are on OWL rung 4--but figured I'd better ask.) If so then you know that eating anything off plan is going to throw you out of ketosis, and you will be experiencing cravings triggered by whatever the items are that threw you out in the first place. Any occasional taste or bite is only sabotaging what you want for your life if it's off plan, kwim?
So what do you want to do next?~Kristi

I feel gross, I need to get it back so I guess I need to start eating totally clean again.Originally posted by CalicoPrairie View PostLet me ask--have you read DANDR 2002? Good plan. Perhaps you can reread the book so you can refresh your memory on what you may have forgotten about Atkins.Originally posted by momof3chicks View PostI feel gross, I need to get it back so I guess I need to start eating totally clean again.

Re: Did well at first, but having trouble sticking to plan now
You have been given some great advice here, momof3chicks
A few days on induction should get you back into the swing of things and lick those cravings into shape, then get back on track again. Had the peanut butter got sugar in it? You can make your own by just processing down salted peanuts with a little oil and sweetener (if you body handles sweeteners) if you cannot buy 'no sugar added' peanut butter.
When you did rung 3 did you add peanuts with no problem or were you waiting to add them 'officially' till you got to rung 6? If you didn't add them on rung 3 and it was the first time you ate them then maybe you have found a 'food trigger'?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: Did well at first, but having trouble sticking to plan now
Ahhhh! Peanut butter....it has been the kiss of death for many Atkineers! It's a slippery slope for me. RARELY have it as I've noted it leads quite often, to something even sweeter and totally off plan. I kissed it goodbye for now. Maybe banish if for now and just know you can explore it later...maybe. Ketosis should get those cravings under control. Good luck!
As for the other foods...thinking you can indulge occasionally is the wrong way to think about those foods. If there's any struggle at all brought on by eating foods that are off limits....then we really cannot eat them occasionally. The more often you cross the line, the further away you'll drift from your goal. Review your list of goals and why they're important to you. It always comes down to just how bad you want it. Some days that's a tougher struggle than others. Know that this struggle is a natural part of the Atkins journey. The victory comes in how you handle it. None of these challenges is bigger than your will and desire. I read a facebook status I really liked recently and just thought of it when I read your post. "Don't tell God how big your problems are, tell your problems how BIG your God is!" Yeah, I like that one. You have within YOU what it takes to stomp this demon!

Peanut butter is my bane too. That stuff is evil. Just evil. My enemy number one for sure.
Wish you lots of luck to get back on track.

Yes it had sugar, it was regular skippy PB, and I have had the actual peanuts with no problem. ThanksOriginally posted by Elizellen View PostYou have been given some great advice here, momof3chicks
