  • trip...

    i'm going on vacation for 5 days starting tomorrow and will be back monday....today is my third day of induction. when should i start OWL..i won't have a scale in my vacationand won't know how it affects me..also...when i add extra veggies..like one extra cup according to OWL so it makes 4 cups..should I only have that 3 or 4 times a week. i can';t monitor my weight loss w/ OWL bc no scale..should i do induction till I'm back home and have a scale? or should i start today?

    I hae done induction a few times and fell off,.,..

    Well your supposed to do induction for 2 weeks....so you will be okay!

      but i have done induction for 2 weeks b4..they say if u have done those 14 days u dont need induction anymore and weight loss slows...so i would do induction for a few days just to get into ketosis and then try OWL?> ya? help

        Do you still have the information you need from the first time you did induction, like what your average carbs were? Or how metabolically resistant you are? You'll need this information for OWL.

        I'd say stick to Induction friendly foods, but if you have to, you can eat extra veggies. The way I see it, vacation is a part of life. Do your best, have a great vacation, and figure it out when you get back. (This is not an invitation to cheat!)

          what im saying is i did only induction for those times. for a total on and off of like a month or so..i cheated and did low fat and low cal breaks..so now im doin it over for a month do drop some pnds...and looks better...sooo when i do get into ketosis..i think I am who knows..i did 3 clean days of induction....someone told me to start OWL right away when im in ketosis but ill be on a trip and cant weigh myself to c how i react to extra veggies or so...like if my bodies not ready..i wanna lose weight. shall i continue induction till i get home on next Monday or go on OWl when? I dunno when to start it but i wanna lose the fastest way possible so which is it OWL or indiction? i wanna lose 18 more pnds...and plan to do the end w/ low cal after i drop 10 pnds on atkins..its complicated. what should i do on my trip...OWL or induction..and which can i lose more w/ since i already did dinducton before.. another time? u can never get those induction days bak they say..like those first 14 days..

              don't.. i lose just fine and have determination. just curious whether to start OWL tomorrow or continue induction till i come bak. anyone know?

                Just wondering.....have you read the book? From your posts, it doesn't really sound like you have been dong Atkins.

                  Repeating what I said in your other thread.

                  Go on OWL, add the extra veggies and don't worry about the scale. You said you're only gone for 5 days, right? You shouldn't be weighing yourself every day anyway, so go, eat the veggies and don't obsess over this....extra salad isn't going to cause any problems.

                  Did you get your mother to read the posts, or read the book, Lauren?

                    Lauren, why do you do this to yourself? The first time you began Atkins, you were on a vacation in a foreign country where you didn't know how to count the carbs of the foods you ate there and where you had a hard time finding the appropriate foods because you left your copy of DANDR at home. The other times you've gone on Atkins have been under similar situations: starting school, going on Spring Break, visiting your boyfriend's family, and now you're going on a 5 day vacation. Each time you've come back to the board to say you fell off because you found it hard to stay on Atkins during these periods of time.

                    Do you see a pattern here? I'm really concerned because you are consistently setting yourself up for failure. :no

                    You'll have to re-read the OWL chapters in the book and read the stickies in the OWL forum because it isn't just adding an additional cup of veggies to your present menu at all!

                    So do yourself a favor, Lauren, find a time in your life where it won't be interrupted by vacations, visits, etc. so you won't have an excuse to fall off the wagon. Otherwise, you'll be constantly starting and starting and starting but getting absolutely no where.

                      I know how to do atkins now..i just confused c i kinda did the 14 day induction back then and am confused how long to stay on induction now..i just have ganed 1.5 pnds....im on day 5..i lost 3 pnds the first 2 days and have been inclining....I know how to do it now and im determined. i wanna lose the fastest possible...to feel beetter about myself and i think induction would help. I'm at 139.5 i gained 1.5 pnds for some reason after dinner..its a diff scale tho..but..i wanna get down to 120...so i still have a while to go..so...i would like to do induction till i get down a bit more then add 1 cup of veggies every day for the next week...right? or do i add em like every other day?

                        Lauren, please, please, please, do yourself a favor and begin your OWL or whatever when you ARE able to devote the time and energy you need to it. Otherwise, you're looking at another failure.

                          Lauren, if you gained weight after dinner, it's because you ate and drank...plus, if it's a different scale it's entirely possible that it weighs differently than yours does at home.

                          If you are vacationing beside an ocean, do yourself a favour and throw the scale into it!

                          If you are following the plan as laid out in DANDR, you just have to trust that it's going to work and give your body time to lose the weight at it's own pace.
                          As you've been repeatedly told, you are close to goal and you cannot expect to lose the last part of your weight quickly, it's just not how it works.

                          You can add your veggies in every other day for a week, then shift to every day, OR you can have them everyday...whatever makes you feel comfortable.

                            ok...iyt just scares m..i feel thinner but like the damn scale..what if my mom asks how much i lost on this "horrible unhealthy" plan according to her...err mom well..one pound...she wont be happy. im willing to stick through it wherever i go now..if i see a loss of some sort! its just frustrating. 18 pnds to go or more like 20..i should be moving a bit quicker u know? i did last time i did atkins at a lesser weight...just thinkin of low cal..i lost 20 pnds on that once..and i gained it in college..im willin to continue atkins.

                              So don't tell her - say you have been challenged here at ADBB to go 2 weeks without weighing yourself - in fact if you like I will challenge you to just that!!

                              Who says you should be losing quicker?
                              Your body will make the decision depending on how you are following your Atkins plan - not you or anyone else!!
                              Each time you 'go on a diet' your body will respond differently - all you can do is make the decision which way of eating you are going to do and - like Nike says - Just do it!!!
