Re: Popcorn
I buy the popcorn kernels (the kind you have to pop yourself.) You'll have to read the bag to figure out the carb count. With the brand I buy (really inexpensive grocery store brand--99 cents per 1 pound bag), 1/2 tablespoon popcorn kernels is about 5 net carbs. That amount pops to about 1 1/2 cups, which is nice sized snack for me.
Popping your own corn is easy. A simple method is in the microwave. Put the kernels into a small paper bag. Fold the bag closed. Toss in microwave and cook 1-2 minutes. You can reuse the paper bag one or two times more. I buy a pack of 100 paper lunch bags for $1.00 at my local dollar store. So, for about 2 dollars, I can have alot more popcorn then if I were to buy the microwave bags or buy pre-popped corn. Plus, I can control what goes into my popcorn....no nasty transfats or too much salt.
