  • I cheated today :(

    Today I cheated for the first time since starting this WOE.
    Lunch today was chicken salad, which was served with lots of veggies and fruit. I managed to stay away from the fruit and some veggies (sweet corn, carrots), but when I went to season my salad, they only had cockail dressing!! No olive oil, no nothing. Just that sauce. I can't eat unseasoned salad so I had some, about 4 or 5 tablespoons. And to make matters worse I couldnt resist a bit of beetroot , but that was just about a a tablespoon (shreded).

    I'm feeling really bad now, and I've been stalled since forever, I gained one pound after Induction, and been stalled ever since (I'm currently on the Nut Rung).

    I can't even find the carb count on that sauce! I tried Fitday, but cannot find it. Maybe a different name? Here we call it cocktail sauce, its kind of orange in color (salmon color), and it is normally eaten with shrimp and other seafood.

    Well, just wanted to share...

    Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start from where you left off. Tell yourself, "It could have been worse...I could have given up all together and ditched the salad", but you didn't, and that's a good thing I'm not sure about cocktail sauce, at the moment what does it matter how many carbs it was? That was history and you're starting from the point you left off.

    Now go drink your water and go for a walk or do your exercise
    Hang in there! You're doing great!

      I agree...its done and over and any damage can't be undone. You said you have been stalled for awhile anyways...you might want to consider dropping down a rung or going back to Induction for a week to get your body back into fat burning and then slowly re-add carbs. Just a thought ... try not to beat yourself up for too long because today is a fresh day! *U*

        Re: your stall ...... the nut rung totally stalled me for the entire time I was on it!!!

        Once I cut out nuts again and hopped up to the next rung everything was fine again.......

          MissMel: Induction was only a couple of days ago, but it is a world of difference being able to eat a wider variety of food! I don't really mind stalling that much, as long as I'm not gaining back the weight. I'm going to try adding at least the 4th Rung. But thank you for the suggestion...

          Bambina: I had the same reaction you had with the nuts, but for me it was the Dairy rung. After so much time without anything sweet to eat, I had fresh cheese and I swear it tasted sweet to me! So I ended up having cravings and ate a lot (alowed foods but still huge quantities). I think I'm doing better with the nuts than the previous rung.

            Hi Neon,

            Here is the info on cocktail sauce:

            Serving size - 1/4 cup
            Calories - 50
            Fat - 0.5
            Sodium - 700 mg!!!!!!
            Total Carb - 11 g
            Sugars - 11 g

            Drink lots and lots of water and you should be fine. I'm like you, I have to have something with my seafood. I make a lowcarb cocktail sauce using low carb catsup & horseradish sauce. Of course that wouldn't help you if you were eating out.

                When you add new rungs arent you supposed to gradually add for a week at a time before moving on? I thought you were supposed to start with 3 times a wee. ANyway, a little off topic, just thought Id ask if that might be part of your stall.

                  If it's a food that is new to you, then yes, you shouldn't eat it more than 3 times a week. In other words, any food above Rung 1 shouldn't be eaten more than 3 times a week initially because all those foods are "new" to you.

                  If it's a food that isn't new to you, then you can experiment with eating more than 3 times a week.

                        I just finished reading the OWL section of the DANAR, Dr. Atkins says at first you only eat the new food 3 times a week and wait to see how you do.
                        This is what I'm doing. The first week after induction I just ate more veggies (to tell you the truth I was kind of doing extended induction, I was not really sure what my next move would be)

                        The second week, on the dairy rung I added fresh cheese (the unsalted kind). That was not a good move for me! I had cravings, so I cut back on that. Now I eat only the cheeses I ate during induction, mostly blue cheese. I'm not very fond of dairy so I didn't feel the need to hang around that much here.

                        On this week I added pistachios (not the best choice, but I only had almonds available and I don't like them very much, and I looove pistachios). So far so good, the scale is not moving but that's ok. Last weekend I started logging my measures , so next saturday I'll have another way of checking my progress.

                        Tomorrow is the start of a new Rung week for me! My plan is to do another week of Nuts, and eventually do the Berries next, if everything goes well.
