So here I lie...8lbs from goal and as I worked my way to premaintenance I totally skipped the grains rung as that was my addiction before I started. I'm still planning to avoid it as much as I can, but I have a question about bread...I know white bread is out...I don't even have a desire to have it anymore, however, whole wheat bread makes me gag! I was always a white bread or bust person, so I don't know what else is out there that's acceptable really lol

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

You can try to look around for a bread product that you like. Or you can skip the bread route completely and try the tortillas or crackers. I can't eat certain wheat products because they aggravate my asthma and allergies, but I've found that some crackers don't have an effect on my asthma, so I use them on occasion. Granted it's a "crunchy" type of bread, but they make a nice change (and the crunch is enough so you don't start wanting a bag of potato chips of Doritos on the side.)

some iof the newer "white" are full of fiber now that they can whiten with a soy derivative. check out the white wheat and see if it isn't whole wheat.

I've had those before Heidi, those are absolutely excellent. I haven't hit the grains rung yet, but that will pretty much be all I add.

Try those, do like some roll ups. Heck, you can even do like a breakfast burrito type of thing....and it's still low carb!!

          Good Luck!!

Oh, you know, I eat the Joseph's Low-Carb Pitas. They're really awesome. 5 carbs for an entire pita and I always end up cutting it in half and making a half-circle pita for me and one for my husband just because they hold so much. I like to take some canned shrimp and mix it with mayonnaise, onion, and garlic powder, and then put some sliced cucumbers in with it. It's so good. They're perfect for the grain rung (have grain ingredients in them).
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

If you're not into bread, How about adding oats ? I love my oatmeal in the morning, my favorite is steel cut oats, they're a bit more chewy than traditional oatmeal.

I also love Ryvita rye crispbreads, and Triscuit thins crackers for snacks. ryvita crisp breads are great with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

The triscuits i like to have when we have company, i can dip them like chips or have with cheese. They're triangle shaped and much thinner than regular triscuits so you can have more for less carbs. TLC makes good ww crackers too, but check the ingredients and carb counts, they have different flavours etc.

Thanks for all the info! I think I might test out the low carb tortilla's and pitas...I'll be going to Toronto in a couple weeks and will be stopping at the Low Carb Grocery Store...I'll see if they have any.

I was going to say the same Heidi!

The low carb wraps are available in any grocery store here, They are under the name Orowheat Fibre Counting tortilla's. I get mine at loblaws and superstore or dominion.

If you are at the low carb grocery store, you're best to get things that you can only order online, like Davinci syrups. The wraps will be a ripoff like heidi mentioned.

I'm curious to know what you think of the l/c grocery store though..I haven't been there yet but have checked out their site..looks pretty good.
