  • @#%$&*#!!!!!

I really screwed up today. I went out for a nice walk, with the intention of getting a nice low-carb friendly lunch. I've done Atkins before successfully, so I pretty much know what I can get away with eating and what I can't. I went to this wrap place, Boloco, down the street from my house and ordered a cajun chicken wrap with no rice, lite black beans, and no roasted pepper corn salsa. The girl seemed to understand the order well enough, but apparently I confused the **** out of her. I asked her to take $5 in cash and put the rest on my card (I'm in college, so I don't have lots of $$ right now). She said "OK" and proceeded to charge the whole thing to my card and then just stand there dumbfounded and ask me, "What did you want me to do with that $5 again? You want singles?" This wouldn't normally be a big deal, but I didn't have that much money in my account, and now I'm overdrafted, which will cost me a half hour trip to the bank.

In a blind rage (which I kept bottled up), I sat down and ate my wrap. A bite or two in, I notice a big chunk of rice in the middle, as well as the pepper/corn salsa. Of course, they wouldn't refund me my money, or even remake it. I had no money left, and no food in the house, so I just finished it.

I'm so @!#$%@$#! pissed right now. Partly at the girl at the counter, and partly at myself for being so upset with her over something so stupid and perfectly human. I'm planning on starting up again tomorrow. I figure I'll be OK with 72-96 hours of induction diet, don't you? Let me know what you think.

    Cheers!

The part that makes this suck the worst is that I've lost 26lbs already. It's my first and hopefully my last setback. We'll see what happens.

It sounds like a really frustrating experience.

You have the right attitude, let it go, learn from it and start fresh. You're doing great having lost 26 pounds. I don't know what rung you're on, but cutting back for a few days is fine. Some people just stay on the rung they're on and keep going. If it happens again, try to take out as much bad stuff as you can.

Sounds like you're doing great overall, just bounce back and keep going!

I would write the owner of the restaurant and see if I could still get my money back. At the least it might help the next person that comes along and get the wrong order.
A little induction never hurt anyone, you might not even notice a one time carb overload. Or it might just set ya back a day. Will have to wait and see. Let us know how you do.

I don't know if you have Jimmy John's near you, but when I was in Chicago last month I saw that they do low carb wraps. It's all the ingredients from their normal subs, but instead of bread they wrap it in lettuce leaves. Sounds like that might be an awesome alternative!

Good luck getting back on track, and congratulations on the 26lbs off!

Sorry to hear that order goof.

But there is no reason for you to "start all over". It was 1 bad meal. So pick up where you left off with your very next meal.

IF you had 1 bad meal, followed by 1 bad snack, and another bad meal or two, I would say go ahead and do Induction for a day or two. But 1 bad meal....no need to go back to Induction for that.

That's horrible!! They took your order but didn't make it the way you ordered and then wouldn't remake it for you?? My family owned a restaurant for 10 years. We could never get away with that and rightly so! I wouldn't go back to that place.

No sweat..........just keep on pluggin. This won't set you back much.

agreed. i'm now over it. i'm teetering on the edge of being out of ketosis, so if i haven't lost weight by monday, i'm going to settle on 72ish hours of induction before i hop back on the OWL train. I don't plan to go back there anytime soon, either. See, normally it wouldn't a problem because I can usually watch them make my food, but since I was tied up trying to figure out about my credit card with the cashier, I had no idea what happened until it was too late. Oh well, c'est la vie. I'll let you know how it turns out when I weigh in on Monday.

When I put in an order like that i try to get the person taking my order to repeat it back to me so I know they understood .. then I add that I am "ALLERGIC" to those things and might have a bad reaction -- this usually gets them to pay attention! ( well yes _ the bad reaction is carb overload and usually a big headache the next day so not THAT BAD - but they must be having visions of me having a major meltdown and them having to call the paramedics!!!) This technique usually works and I actually get what I order!!

Yeah, I've done that before. Of course, if I really were to have an allergic reaction, there'd be no one to call...it's a little tough to call yourself on the phone...lol. I'm a full-time student right now, but also an EMT as well. I get a lot of calls for allergic reactions, most are nothing a little benadryl won't take care of. I've even had people stick themselves with PLAYING with an epi pen.... ah, the joys of EMS. It's also part of the reason I'm on Atkins and taking better care of myself. A lot of dept's around here don't really have fitness standards per se, but the work can be pretty intense. We'll see how it works out and I hope to get a gig in the fall. Take care and thanks for the advice, all. Much appreciated.

                      Cheers!
