  • Rung 2 Question

I started Rung 2 Monday. It's really looking like I've got some major food sensitivity going to dairy. Headaches, water retention, sinus problems are symptoms I've been having. I'm going to try a couple of more things, but may have to give up on this rung. Should I just go back to rung 1 for the rest of the time I was going to spend on rung 2?

I was thinking of trying the soy milk, but didn't know if that was this rung or the legume rung. I'm sure the answer is probably on here, but I didn't have time to check closer and hoped someone would know right off hand. I hate to buy it if I can't use it for a few more weeks.

I really like milk products and hate to think I can't have them without problems, but---at least I know how it affects me and can make an informed choice if I want to deal with the consequences.

Soy milk belongs in the legume rung.

Did the Induction cheeses affect you the same way? Also, be careful about the processed milk products, like some of the yogurts. They may contain additives/preservatives that you are reacting to.

By the way, you don't have to go back to the veggie rung. You can choose to move to Rung 3 if the dairy doesn't agree with you.

          Re: Rung 2 Question

Thanks, guys! Ya'll are so fast and so smart.

I'll wait on the soy milk, then.

I was fine with cheese on induction. I tried to not overdo it, but never had problems. I learned last time I was on Atkins that milk gives me sinus problems. I tried a smoothie a couple of times and had an allergy headache both times. I had yogurt last night and no headache, but I've been a little sinusy--but I do have some seasonal allergies from the cotton plants blooming, too. I'll give it a few more times to see.

          Thanks again for the help!

When you get to rung 3, nuts & seeds, you can have almond milk. There are now some brands that are unsweetened.
