  • OWL and slower weight loss...stall?

So that You understand what I'm talking about, I'm first posting my stats. As you can see, I've only a little bit to lose, and before you bite my head off at the target weight lemme tell you that I'm quite small, just 5 ft. and slender in build. Well, I was. Once upon a time, around 10 years or so ago I used to be at this weight and everybody then had complimented me on my hourglass figure and glowing skin.

Now that I've started OWL rung 1, I feel there is no weight loss. I haven't measured but the clothes also are not any looser than they were at the end of Induction. I am trying to convince myself that this is normal , not the dreaded stall and weight loss will carry on at a slower pace.
My question is, what should be the expected date for me to reach my goal at the present rate and is there anything I can do to bring it back to the Induction level loss rate?
    Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on your loss so far
7 pounds out of a hoped-for 17 in only 14 days is amazing
With only another 10 pounds to lose I imagine your future losses will be much slower, maybe a pound a week or so, but try not to get too impatient - a loss of one pound a week is about the recommended rate for any 'diet', and they say that slower losing is better as the body is then able to maintain the weight more easily once you reach goal.

Try not to weigh daily - aim for once a week - and use the other signs in the 'blood sugar symptom test' section in DANDR like increased cravings etc to judge whether the new foods you introduce are affecting you adversely.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

There is almost always a 'pause' in our weight loss after induction. We even named it..."Post Induction Stall Syndrome". http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=1378

      It's normal! Relax.

Stay on rung 1. Be mindful that the majority of your carbs are coming from vegetables and NOT the "special category" foods like cream, olives, avocado and such. If you want a review of your menu, post everything (including quantities) of your menus in the "Review My Menu" forum and we'll be happy to take a look at it.

Thank you. I do need the moral support.

This is a sample of a day's menu for me:

        Breakfast:
Omelet made with 3 eggs, 1/4 cup onion, 1/4 cup tomatoes/ 1/4 cup sweet peppers, 1/ cup grated cheese, butter.

        Lunch:
Salad made with 1 cup shredded cabbage, 1/2 cup shredded cooked chicken. 1 tbsp mayo

        Dinner:

1 cup okra sauteed in butter, 1/2 cup shredded cooked chicken. 1 tbsp mayo

I drink a minimum of 3 ltrs of water a day.

I don't see anything wrong with that menu at all. I'd add MORE veggies though. Particularly high fiber ones--greens, pumpkin, jicama and such.

I really think you are just in that post induction pause that almost everyone goes through. Be patient. It will happen.

It looks to me as if you are having a lot less than the 3 cups of veggies plus 5 net carbs more - I only see 1/4 cup of your 2-3 cup 'salad' vegetables for instance.
As Valid said, maybe try some more carby vegetables from the allowed list as well as adding the 'salad veg' allowance too.

I added half a cup of pumpkin to my food yesterday following your advice. I had been at around 16-17 carbs at Induction, adding 5 net carbs to that should bring me up to 22, right? yesterday it was 21 actually. Should it be more at this rung?

That's fine. For Rung 1, you add 5 net carbs of Induction veggies to your typical Induction menu. So if you were eating 15 net carbs during Induction, you will be eating 20 during Rung 1.

I had a pause in weight loss when i hit the third week of induction. I moved into Owl and things started moving again ( if somewhat sporadic!) Your body will do its thing in its own time ! I have been at my current weight for about two months now and am waiting for the whooshie fairy to come big time!

I've been trying to figure this out now - and by reading these threads, tell me if i'm understanding correctly. Can you stop losing weight by not having enough carbs? i'm been 8 lbs away from goal for over 8 months now. as a matter of fact, i had to change my WOE to get here (to lose the last 4 lbs). i'm still low carb, but extremely low calorie. maintaing, but need to be drastic to lose another lb. can the lack of carbs slow u down?
