What happens if I just don't eat those things?
I don't drink milk... it makes my stomach cramp and makes me rust to the potty.

I like yogurt but most of them are full of fruit and sugar....

I'm ok with cottage cheese but I haven't eaten it in years.

Do I now have to put these things in my diet? Can I go straight to nuts...?

What about #4.. Berries and Melons.. ? I'm allergic to all melons.. But I can eat a few berries but I have to be careful about the seeds... I have a difficult time with small seeds.

#5... Wine.. that I can figure out!!!
Dannon makes a Diabetic Friendly yogurt that has 2 carbs and is sweetened with Splenda. I've found it at Wallmart next to the regular yogurt but make sure it says "Diabetic Friendly" on the top - it's a 4 pack in strawberry or vanilla. It is a little thinner than regular yogurt but it tastes real good. They taste like ice cream - I can't wait to get back to that rung so I can eat cottage cheese and that yogurt again. Just because it's a diabetic product doesn't mean you can't eat it - it's actually what you should be eating because the sugars are taken out.

I buy the Breakstone 1/2 cup serving cottage cheese in the 4 pack - I don't have to add a bunch of stuff to make it taste good, it's good from the beginning with a little pepper only.

Ashley, I suggest you read Chapter 13 (Are You Ready for Phase 2?) and Chapter 14 (Ongoing Weight Loss: The Second Phase of Atkins) in 2002 DANDR.

Your question as asked, cannot be answered with a "this or that" phase kind of answer... I lost more weight in OWL (because I was in that phase longer). I think what you're really asking is, "do you lose weight faster in Induction or OWL?" How fast you lose weight is not the issue... making this a plan you can live with for life, is what you need to look at.

Those 2 chapters should explain things to you.

Yes - try adding 5 net carbs and see how you go.
According to fitday 3.5 fluid ounces (7 Tablespoons) of milk has 5 net carbs.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

ok, i am not sure which rung i'd truly be on. I have added the nuts back in and dairy, but i am not missing starchy veggies, and don't care if I ever eat them. The fruit, isn't something that I miss terribly bad, and i know i get plenty of fiber as I take a suppliment up to three times a day... Beans and what not are ok once in awhile, I don't drink, wouldn't miss that wrung at all, sooo I kind of jumped way ahead to the wheat wrung. Using carbquick in moderation. It has only been 5 days since i have tried it. I don't notice any cravings ... and i actually dropped 4 lbs. over night just after trying the stuff. I plan on backing down a wrung or two and just take my time. But is it possible.. that it would work, skipping so many of the upper rungs ???

How about berries? It is an important rung for me. I don't think you should jump over fruits - loads of anti oxidants and vitamins that you'll want to include in a healthy diet. Even if it is not easy to eat fruits on Atkins - I find some apple and grapefruit works well for me. Starchy vegetables - I think it is important to try them out. Most people can probably deal with yams, rutabagas at some point. I guess you really love your carbquick If you've tried it and you think it works for you - you can always go backwards and still add the other things in. Not what we would normally recommend of course.

                  Re: Introduction to OWL

                  Hi everyone,
I am getting ready to start OWL today. I just finished induction, 2 1/2 weeks, and I have lost 7 pounds, although as of this morning I have regained 2 pounds! Why.... It sure makes me nervous to start adding 5 more carbs to my diet. Right now I am at 140 pounds, my goal is 130. I'm 5'7". I have stuck to the diet, I drink a gallon of water a day, excersize. Any suggestions or insight? I see that some people stall when on induction too long, but when they move onto OWL they start losing weight, how is that?

Salty foods, constipation, slower digestion, hormones, sore muscles... there can be many explanations for it. It's probably water weight though and it will come off relatively fast.

I don't know why this happens, or else I would not have stayed in Induction as long as I did. But depending on their exercise routine, on the carb sources, etc. some people seem to lose faster when they increase their carb intake.
