  • 2 more pounds and so sad...

Well, this morning I lost 2 more pounds on OWL Rung 1 which was not too bad considering my "adventure" with alcohol last Saturday. I plan to stay on this rung for a while.

I am very sad today because our sweet Squinky went to doggie Heaven early yesterday morning. We got her in March of 1994 when she was 5 weeks old.

She was such a good dog and we had so much fun with her!! She traveled a lot with us and loved everyone (except cats ). For the past year or so she had some heart issues and we elected to forgo treatment due to her age and worries about side effects of the treatments. She had a happy life. I had been trying to prepare myself for this but I just miss her so much. I keep thinking she is going to walk around the corner any second.

Even though I went to work yesterday after only 3 hours sleep I was grateful to have something to occupy my mind with. When I got home, I drank 1 Michelob Ultra and would have drank more but we only had one in the house. I think I am dehydrated from crying...

Here is a picture of her taken a few summers ago at Mount Zion Park in southern Utah...

    I miss my sweet puppy...

Aww Pam...I'm so sorry about your pal. Pets live a very excelerated life compared to ours. Better that he's not suffering though, and you know that.

      All the best....

I'm sorry about your beautiful furbaby, Squinky. It's so hard to lose a pet, since they are part of the family.

Pamela, I'm so sorry for you loss. I know how hard it can be to lose a pet. I called in sick the day after my cocker spaniel passed away and cried for hours. It will get better with time and you'll be able to remember all the happy times you had together. *hugs*

So sorry to hear about your loss of Squinky. It's so very upsetting when our four footed friends leave us. Lovely pic... she was a real "looker" and I'm sure very very sweet. You say she had a happy life. Hang on to that thought and try to let the happy memories take the place of your sadness. I'm sure Squinky is in doggie heaven as you say... maybe chasing the odd cat now and again!

Thanks again everyone for your kind and thoughtful words.

I looked up a miniature schnauzer rescue site in Houston and they have a Rainbow Bridge section but I just was not ready to look at it yet. I burst into tears just looking at the pictures

We have a ton of pictures of Squinky in albums and a few around the house and I am going to get a collage type frame and fix it up with all of our favorites. I am very thankful that her passing was fairly easy and I was right there with her at the end.

Again, thanks for taking the time to respond to my thread. It really means a lot to me.

one of the hardest things about owning a pet is that they live such short lives compared to our own and inevitably we have to face losing them . I know I miss my doggy so much - and he has not gone to doggy heaven - he is with my ex ( and I do visit him when the ex is away! shhh dont tell him) Hope you and your family all feel better soon...
