    Re: nuts and seeds rung

Pam, it is ok to get the roasted ones as long a you check the ingredients. They sometimes caramelize the nuts, add corn starch or syrup there.. Just be careful and if you are not sure, I would go for the unroasted ones.

Sorry blue996 to hear that you are allergic to nuts, you can enjoy the seeds though, yea?

Also, is there a lower carb peanut butter than 2 net carbs per tablespoon? I looked at a jar of Laura Scudder's Old Fashioned Peanut Butter (oil on top) and that was the carb count. I liked it because the only ingredients were peanuts and salt--used to eat this type when I was a kid.

Pam the 2 net carbs are naturally occuring in the nuts, so no, if you are eating natural peanut butter it's going to have those 2 net carbs. But if you are in owl you are adding an extra 2g's per day so this shouldn't be an issue?

One type of nuts to watch out for are 'dry roasted' They are usually coated with starches.

        Soxfan,

I wouldn't eat the added sugar peanut butter, stick with the natural unsweetened type. I find the best one is Adams Natural (i get it at walmart). Usually 'regular' sweetened peanut butters will have transfats in them as well as stabilizers, this is why natural peanut butters have the oil on top, they don't have transfats. You just stir it well when you first open, then keep it in the fridge and this will keep it mixed.
