    Good for you. It wouldn't have tasted that good anyway. My daughter gave me a sugar free mint the other day and I was like 'Wow, is that ever sweet!'

      You should be proud of yourself. That's a hard thing to do. And kudos to them for being sensitive to your goals and offering you salad.

        I have a suggestion for next time. When I know I am going to be tempted
        by something like that. I have a low carb sweet before leaving the house. For example: a chocolate or cookies n cream shake made with a scoop of protein, splenda, cream, ice and water. It is Completetly satisfying.

          I just got home after the card game after the party ... and in the end I managed to avoid all bad food and drink! Was hungry so I just had some Cobb salad which is all good stuff.
          Thanks for everyone's support - this was weird / hard today since it was the first family party since induction in June and there is typically so much pressure to join in, but this went very well. I'm still clean and at my lowest weight, and looking forward to the gym tomorrow.
          If anyone out there needs support, ADBB is the place to be for sure!

          PS: Mel your recipe sounds pretty good ... what do you mean by protein ... like powdered protein or an egg or what?

            gman, I have these purline things that make all sweet stuff taste bitter. They sell them at Wal Mart. They really work, it is kinda like a numbing sensation also, I thought about how it might help with tooth aches if I ever got one. Just a little tip, hope it helps.

              Hey Gman,

              I use a scoop of Cookies n Cream pure protein powder (sold in publix) 2 carbs per scoop. I understand that Designer protein powder is very good too.

              I also use the vanilla protein powder flavor and add 4 strawberries or 1/4 cup of blueberries with about 1/4 cup of cream, tsp splenda, 3 ice cubs and about 1/4 to 1/3 cup water. You will want to play around with it to
              your preference.

              I used to be such a sweetaholic and feel completely satisfied with one of these shakes.

                Thanks these sound actually too good to be true vs my typical fluid habit of water LOL. I was just looking at protein powders. Do soy make more sense than whey - based? Re: 0 carb vs a few? Newbie to protein powder...

                      You know, I don't know much about the Soy powders. I have an 8 oz protein shake every morning and I am full until lunch. It taste like I am
                      having a milk shake for breakfast. I do not know what the Soy powders taste like. Compare the labels to see how much protein the Soy Powder has. If you are going to have the shake for a meal replacement will want to pay attention to the protein.

                          Aha! I'm down a pound to 213 ! A new low weight from 229 on 6/15. Would not have happened if I had the spoon of ice cream cake ... because who KNOWS what that might have led to?

                              About the soy vs. whey protein powder. I think it is a bit of a personal preference thing. I prefer whey for taste. Also soy protein powder should not be introduced to the legume rung.
                              I like to make shakes with the protein powder. I buy generic walmart protein powder, add some decaf ice cubes, cocoa and a bit of cream and it is super delicious.

                              Good job at the party and with the loss. Sticking to the plan pays off again!!!
