  • Do nuts stall anyone else?

I started on the nuts rung a couple of weeks ago. It was thrilling. A few almonds here. A few peanuts there. I was really good about my portion sizes. But my weight stayed put for almost two weeks. So, I'm thinking it was probably the nuts and cut them out. Within a few days, the scale finally moved.

I'm actually sad. Nuts was something I was really looking forward to.

unfortunately nuts are notorious stallers , but alot of times it's because of portion control issues (that's my problem), one thing you can try is switching from salted to unsalted if you are eating the salted nuts. It could be water retention fromthe sodium.

Hmmm you got me thinking now...I've re-started OWL since I got a false start and lost not a pound since induction so I'll find out if nuts were the culprit. I love them too; discovered macadamia nuts! mmmm I'll let you know in about 3 wks!

Not if I eat an ounce, but I usually stop only when the 3 oz. pack is emtpy.

They stall me and I can't stop with an ounce. I can't have peanut butter in the house, or I stop when I get to the bottom of the jar.

Yea. But I have to measure out and stick to that little baggie of nuts without going over and I can't have them every day...

Re: Do nuts stall anyone else?

                    OMG!
I was trucking along during induction, no fluctuations, steady losses.
Then when the time cam to add nuts, I had one tablespoon of peanut butter
two days in a row. No more, no less, and wham!!! 2.5-3 lbs. up like that!!
My normally clear complexion broke out as well and I'm wasn't even close to that TOM.
I just went back to strict induction to try and recoop my losses!
                    So frustrating.
But, I was determined to find out what was going on...
turns out, peanuts stimulates estrogen production in certain people.
Bingo, we all know what a surge of hormones can do to women!
So, now I know. I have to just say no to nuts.
                    Hope this helps...

Oh, yeah, I forgot to add I'm estrogen dominant, so you can see why it did what it did...

Re: Do nuts stall anyone else?

The nuts issue is the one reason why I think Dr. Atkins didn't allow nuts/seeds during Induction.

Re: Do nuts stall anyone else?

Hmm... now I'm wondering if that's my problem too. I've been eating a very small amount of almonds every few days and haven't lost any weight for over a week now. I've also added in 3 tbsp of flax seeds for fiber.
I'm really hoping that it's not the flax that's holding me back because I really don't think I can go back to being uncomfortable like that. All the veggies, fiber pills and metamucil in the world do not work for me. The flax has been a godsend.
I'll try cutting out the almonds and hope that does the trick *fingers crossed*

The flax should help out in the situation of estrogen. Adding borage oil would be even better. These EFA's actually help the body flush estrogen out of the liver. Keep up the Flax for sure...

Yes, they stall me too. Not to mention I have a problem with eating only my portion size. I have found it is better if I dont even have them in the house at all. But they are such a good snack for the kids.
