I was reading a post in an induction thread and I am totally confused now about sugar alcohols. From my understanding, we are limited to 3 servings a day, and I have been counting each one as 1 carbohydrate, even if the carb is 0 (like in a diet drink), I count for the sugar alcohol. In the information below, it looks like you subtract the sugar alcohol. I would think you would add it?? It could be that I'm looking too much into things
, but please let me know if I'm doing things correctly! Thanks!
Effective Carbohydrate Count (GROSS CARBS)
Start with: Total Carbohydrates
Subtract: Dietary Fiber
Subtract: Sugar Alcohols
Subtract: Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate
Subtract: Glycerine
The balance equals: Effective Carb Count (NET CARBS)
