I made the feax mashed potatoes and used Xanthium gum to thicken the gravy. They had no clue. I steered away from all desserts, and bread besides the one tablespoon of dressing. I know I probably ate more than my induction friendly carb count. I ate tons of feau potatoes, and asparagus, and salad. My treat for the day was a sugar free jello with whipped cream from the can. <1 carb < 1 sugar. The funny thing is this. I had been in extended induction for two weeks and hadn't lost even a oz in over two weeks. I held the same weight until this morning, and whoosh!!! I lost 4 pounds. Does this mean, I need to go onto OWL or was I not getting enough of something on extended induction? Any ideas?
Congrats on the 4lbs you lost! I also lost 4 lbs this week. My weigh in day is fridays but we weighed in on Wed last week because of thanks giving. I have had the best week since induction. I am in week 4 of OWL and I have stalled for the last 3 weeks. Lets pray this keeps on going down. I have 4 lbs to go to get to my new years goal.

I try not to preach to anyone, but it's hard not to when family members who also have type 2 are sitting there stuffing their pie holes with pie. I just think they are idiots and must be trying to kill themselves or something.

But woe to them if they eat pie and then complain that they can't control their sugar.... I let loose then.... Chefs are not known for their compassion.....

At least you are getting back on track! That's a good thing!
My family is filled with people who have Type 2 diabetes, heart disease or both. They abuse themselves during holidays---stuffing themselves with foods they shouldn't be eating. Of course, they are all fat. Of course, when I went on Atkins they all told me how bad it was and how I was going to die because of it. Of course, they still hound me on holidays to "just try it. one bite won't kill you."---it's kind of hard to take them seriously when I know they've swallowed a handful of blood pressure and diabetes medications a few hours before. I mean, it's pretty sad when the table talk involves what medications everyone is taking, what everyone's hemoglobin A1C is, what everyone's blood pressure is like, etc.

But that's how they want to lead their lives. I've chosen to life a life where I don't need to take medications or have blood sucked out of my veins every few months to make sure the medications aren't killing my liver or kidneys. So far, I'm dodging that bullet and I have no plans to join the rest of the family on that level.
