  • Thinkn about OWL Rung 2

    Am not quite ready to move out of Rung 1 but living here in the Gulf i dont think im gonna find Fage greek yogurt and im trying to prepare for what i wanna try.

    The regular yogurt says 6.5 carbs per 100grams. I looked it up on the internet and it says that one cup of yogurt has 236 grams so 1/2 cup would be 118 grams. Is that 18 grams a problem or should I take like 18 grams out by weighing it?

    And then that would be 6.5 carbs and not 5 so how would you handle this if you were in my case?

    Also milk says 100 milliliters is 4.7 carbs and that came up to being a little less than half a cup. So milk is an alternative but I really want yogurt.

    When I added yogurt to my OWL, FAGE yogurt and all the other "Greek" yogurts were not even on the market!

    I added regular, plain (non-flavored) full fat yogurt. Period. Nothing fancy.

      I did some calculations and found that 5 carbs of your yogurt works out to about 75 grams - so weigh that amount out for your OWL addition.
      Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

        Thanks for your replies....i was never good at math but can you tell me how you did the calculation? I would really appreciate it.

        I tried to figure out how many carbs in one gram and then figure out how many grams for 5 carbs but i was getting weird numbers....

          Let's say a food has X net carbs per Y grams. And you want to find out how many grams (Z) you have to eat for 5 net carbs. Then what you do is:
          Z = 5*Y/X

          For yogurt, since it has 6.5 net carbs per 100 grams, you have:
          Z = 5*100/6.5 = 76.92 grams of yogurt.

              LOL. Our teachers told us we would need algebra and here is the living proof!
