  • Are oopsie rolls really good? m

I admit, I am skeptical. Would I like for example chicken salad on one?

Re: Are oopsie rolls really good? m

They are very good. I make them a couple of times a week. I even started spreading them flat on the cookie sheet, like Elizellen does, and they make tasty sandwich bread style slices for toast. I had a toasted bacon and tomato sandwich yesterday morning for breakfast and it was divine. I don't brown them as much as I do the rolls so I can toast or make grilled cheese sandwiches with them. I had a grilled ham and cheese last week that was totally yummy.

It took a while for my memory of what real bread and buns tasted like to make the switch. If you try them too soon after starting Atkins, you might not like them too much. Our taste buds change towards liking our new foods if we just give them a chance.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Many people like them. When I know I will use them for savory things I often add some onion powder to them or sprinkle with some Parmesan before making them. They are not my absolute favorite thing. On OWL I am more likely to make stuff using seeds, nuts and wheat gluten/bran but on induction it was sometimes nice to have something to eat my burger with.

I made them for the first time this past week-end (I used the revolution roll recipe, not the oopsie version - that's next ) Same as the cauliflower hashbrowns, I found them a bit 'eggy'. I did enjoy them though.

I made them for the first time this week too - i thought they tasted like french toast - very eggy - plus I made them in the toaster oven and they all melted into one big piece - kind of like foccacia!

I personally hate them. Like you said, I am all egged out lol and when I tried them they tasted like eggs to me so I couldnt stomach them.

But the one thing I really like is the thin crust on Lindas pizza and that is absolutely delicious. There is more cheese then egg in the recipe and it gets crusty on the edges and I can use it as bread. Just watch the serving size cuz you could easily use up your cheese allowance if you eat too much.

              thats my 2 cents.

Another question about oopsies / revolution rolls...did I do a bad job of folding the ingredients together gently - or are they always really flat (not much thicker than a pancake)? I'm a much better cook than a baker...all that precision & measuring!

Re: Are oopsie rolls really good? m

I made them with mayo instead of cream cheese and surprisingly had no eggy taste at all. Also WAY less carbs and not using cheese allowance, I had hamburgers and they were DIVINE!

@ JulieB - mine came out very fluffy so I think you either underbeat the egg whites or overfolded and deflated them. I should have taken pics as they really did come out wonderful!

I guess I have forgotten what bread taste like but they were a lifesaver for our bacon cheeseburgers.

Yes they are very good and so many things you can do with them. I made mine with cream cheese, next time, i also will try the mayo.

If they aren't fluffy I think that means your egg whites weren't beaten enough. I beat mine until they were really stiff, it felt wrong but worked well

Yes - beat the egg whites till they are so stiff that they won't move even if you tip the bowl upside down
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
