    I got used to knowing by eye what amoutn of veg and so on i could eat a day so i dont really spend time counting net carbs of each thing, perhaps thats another thing i could work on? what method do you prefer to use in order to calculate the net carbs of home cooked meals? fit day?

    I was advised on here to stay on extended, and i even was in contact with someone of here i cant remmeber who, but i think it was a lady and she had been on extended induction for years or something.. Clearly i have made a mistake, and now i guess i am out to rectify the damage from the extended induction to the fatfast..

      Sorry guys its 2:20am here in england and im missing things out of posts lol.. i forgot to add the green beans cabbage and mayo the the list above all in all i get my 3 cups + more worth of veggies

        Best to actually count ... especially if you're trying to solve a problem.

          Plugging your items into FitDay (including 1c green beans, 1/2c cabbage and 1T mayo), your ratio of fat / protein / carbs is rather off for an Induction-level menu - 56% / 37% / 7%. Other than that, nothing jumps out as unusual.

          Do you have any symptoms of an overgrowth of yeast? Are you taking any medications or hormonal birth control that has a known side effect of weight gain?

            I have around 25 net carbs a day no more othewise i gain...

            and im not on nay meication whatsoever.. ive also done the candida test thingy and at one stage it looked as if i had a yeast overgrowth followed the diet, got the supplements then moved back on to the rungs...

            I wish there was a atkins nutrionist who could guide me through this properley with set weekly food menus, i work well when i am organised, but i dont seem to be good at it myself... if any of you know someone who would be willing it create a daily meal plan for me, breakfast,luch,diner and snacks from induction phase throughout the rungs.. i could restart the atkins from the begining, no extnede dinduction etc.. I think it would help to have someone to work with.. i would be willing to offer payment as well .. i know it seems lazy but its not, its purely in the interest of getting me back on track and i know this will help me..

              Have you been to see a doctor and done some blood tests to see if everything is OK (like thyroid). Have you been measuring? Sometimes we lose inches but not pounds.

              Are there times where you eat and drink off plan?

              I would say that if you are gaining (and you have checked with your doctor) you may be eating too many carbs or too much food or the wrong items. Now your menu does not seem to indicate too much food so you may have a low carb threshold.
              There are a few of us out there.

              The usual thing to do according to the book - is to stop eating the recent item you added to see if that help. If that does not change things drop back on carbs to see if that helps. You are listing a lot of spices there. What kinds are they. Depending on what they are you may be eating 5 carbs or more just in spices. Do you still drink coffee? Add sweeteners to it Do you still drink diet coke and Red bull? Have burgers from Burger King?

                In order for this WOE to work for you long term, you have to learn to do this for yourself. At this point, I really think in order to troubleshoot your issues, you need to stop eyeballing, start measuring & counting carbs/calories, etc

                  STop and take a deep breath, now let it out.....

                  1. You say you don't measure your foods.

                  There is a tendency to either over-estimate the amount of food you are eating. So, start measuring. You may be eating more carbs than you think you are eating.

                  OWL and Pre-Maintenance are nearly impossible to do correctly if you do not measure your foods. For example, 5 net carbs of strawberries is 1/2 cup, but 5 net carbs of blueberries( in the UK I believe they are called bilberries) is about 1/4 cup.

                  2. Fat Fast

                  Here is the "Who should do Fat Fast" FAQ: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-fat-fast.html. You were not a Fat Fast candidate and whoever told/advised you to do that was incorrect. I hope it wasn't the same person who told you to go back to Induction because you had difficulties on Rung 1.

                  3. Your food portions.

                  Dr. Atkins said that we should adjust our food portions according to our appetite. Have you done that? I found that as I got smaller in body size, my appetite got smaller as well.

                  It is VERY possible to gain weight on Atkins because you are overeating legal foods.

                  4. Start counting your carbs.

                  Again, if you aren't measuring your foods, then your carb count may be completely off. So start counting your carbs.

                        I use fitday.com to enter my daily menus and nutritiondata.com when I need to figure out the nutritional info for recipes.

                        I agree with Megs... Relax. There's no reason why you can't plan a good menu yourself.

                          Hello guys

                          Firstly i want to thank each and every one of you who took the time to respond to my plea for help

                          I have taken all of your advice and relaised perhaps i was in a bit of a messy version of the atkins diet, eating to many vegetables, not quite enough fat or protien and abusing the use of condiments.

                          I have loged into my fitday account and shall be using it religiously in order to keep within my allowance. i was shocked that for today my breakfast alone came to 8.5g of carbs, so it really shows that i must of been way off track. I am starting from today a fresh induction for the strict 2 week period and shall then move along the rungs correctly as stated in the book. I am going to try display my fitaday on here so i can show everyone what i am eating.. wish me luck not very good at this

                                You log in to Fitday.

                                Then on the Profile tab, at the bottom of the page is a link to "Public Setting Page".

                                Click on that and then click on the button "Make My Journal Public".

                                Then you'll get a link that looks like:

                                - free online diet and fitness journal

                                Post that here.
