I love yolks too. When I was very young, I used to cut out the yolks from me and my little brother's eggs and keep the yolks and give him all the whites. Then mom would look at our plates...me with 4 yellow circles and him with white circles. She was not amused.

I think a lot of people just don't understand vegetarianism (or even more so, veganism) much like the general population doesn't understand Atkins. It is different from what they are used to. Never understood why some get "hostile" about it though.

I used to eat mostly vegetarian before Atkins. Can't have soy so got a lot of my protein from beans/legumes. Way too carby and while it was clean, healthy eating, I wasn't losing much weight. I do hope I can return to more vegetarian meals when I am in Maintenance. Keeping my fingers crossed that my CCLM is high enough so I can have my legumes/beans again.

p.s. Yes, I know I can have beans/legumes in OWL but I hope to be able to have more than 2 TBS at a time.

With all the egg whites, do you know if your getting enough fat?

Would you be able to post a daily menu of what you eat?

My percentages are 66% fat, 26% protein, and the rest from carbs. I'm definitely getting enough fat. I love butter and oil, and I can sit and eat or drink them alone! LOL!

Thanks again everyone for the advice and suggestions. I'm going to move onto OWL in the next week or so, and I'll be sure to add in some tofu ASAP!

Good for you! OWL is so much better than introduction! I can't wait till I reach the fruit rung.

Missy was one of our long time vegetarian losers and she wrote this in the FAQ Section. It might help

Also since there are a couple of you you might want to start your own forum so you can work together on ideas, etc. Just an idea.

you do know that the 5 gram limit is only for the first time you add them to your plan. Once you conquer a rung you can make your ladder into a web and squat on that rung and add more 5 gram allotments to see if you can handle 10 grams of them or even 15. Then once you know you can handle more then just 5 net grams of them you can use more of your carb grams allotment for beans.

or you could just try it as once you conquer a rung. you don't have to have just 5 net grams of that rung for the rest of your life. it is only during the initial testing for reactions and tolerances of the actual food that you have to keep the amount at just 5 grams.

so if you love beans and they love your weight loss them go for it!

I love beans/legumes; my scale doesn't. I very much believe that it was the required 1/3-1/2 cup beans/day on South Beach that slowed my weight loss to a crawl.

Right now I can have the 5g net carb amount and no problem but bumping it up and I hit a wall. Curiously, I can go pretty high carb-wise on veggies, dairy, a few nuts, some blueberries and still lose well. Even if my total net carb count is lower, add beans to the mix and things slow down. I'm probably not explaining this well. LOL

I'm finding out (probably always knew) that beans/legumes and things like bread/pasta are maintenance items for me. I love my lentils and beans though esp. in soups so I have my meager portion occasionally and still lose weight. And let me tell you, I enjoy every one of those beans (I hunt around for them and eat them individually ).
