  • Soy flour thoughts?

I searched high and low for almond flour. None to be found and I probably won't make my own, so I settled on soy. I bought flax meal too.

Made some LC pancakes for breakfast in the morning with those two ingredients. Not bad if I add lc syrup. I could eat them instead of eggs for a couple days a week. A little soy"y" but I don't want to start hating eggs soon.

What's your thoughts on soy flour?

It's just ground almonds. If your grocer has a Bob's Red Mill section, you should find it there. It's often called almond meal.

    I get mine from Amazon.

I haven't owned soy flour in years.

I like my flax pancakes ... no syrup needed either.

Soy flour wouldn't be added back until the legume rung though.

Yep I searched for almond meal and asked for it at the stores and couldn't find it/not available. I will purchase some for amazon.

I didn't realize soy wasn't allowed till legumes. Makes sense. I did eat some soynuts today for the first time. I took them as nuts. Silly me.

You think since I don't like the berry rung much I can move up to legumes.

I am not sure what to do about alcohol rung. Can I go back to that later? I am so paranoid it's going to slow me down further.

      Thank you

        Yes.

You don't have to have alcohol. It's not a requirement.

Are you not trying out melons?

Of course you can move up.

I forgot about the melons. I will probably stay away. I can imagine eating too much and have a craving.

Ok, I'll move up to legumes which I guess I did already today unknowningly.

But is it still ok to add berries every once in a while just for variety? I mean just a couple times a month?

And if I go to legumes am I suppose to be net 45 or 50 grams a day? With berries I am at 40, but since I won't be really adding them in and skipping alcohol for now do I still add in 10 more net carbs or just stay at 40?

I am confused. Time to go get out the book and review.

          Thank you

            Yes.

If you're at 40, then you can add another 5 when you add the legumes ... so that would be 45.

However, you can just test the legumes at 40.

One legume you might want to try is black soybeans. Very few carbs. 5 net carbs of "beans" isn't very much!

If you have a Whole Foods or store like that, they should carry them.

Very good. I just left my legumes for tomorrow's fit day the soyflour. I was right 38 grams.

Black soybeans... sounds tasty. Whole Foods is far but definetly not impossible to get to. Any other suggestions on other legumes? I was checking some out today at the grocery store.

Agreed 5 grams of legumes are not very much and has to be watched carefully.

That is what I would do, Jax. I think it is very important to only change 1 thing at a time... so if you know that you can eat 40g net carbs, try your new food at that level.

I know that OWL sounds confusing... but try to remember this: never up your carbs and try a new food in the same week. Do one, or the other. That way you will know what the culprit is, if you have trouble.

I'm not crazy about legumes, so don't have much to offer on suggestions other than my one favorite - edamame. Yum! It doesn't take much to get 5g net carbs worth, though.

Chick peas are about the only other ones I eat.

Do you like hummus? That is made from chick peas I think.

Lentils can be used in some recipes too.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Mitz, I get too excited to eat other foods and I don't add them correctly. I am going to work on that though. I would like a variety.

Eliz, love hummus. I could dip cucumbers in it instead of pita chips. I'll wait till next week since I have soy beans this week.

Atkinsgal, black soybeans and chick peas. I could live with that for now.

                      Thank you.

                        Re: Soy flour thoughts?

As for the calorie issue I was have been tracking my weight and calories. My calories are all over the place. After two days of getting over 2000 a day my weight went up at the same time I lost a significant amount just before. I simultanesouly ate more and lost big but then it came back on.

But I don't know if that would have been natural or the excessive calories. I normally gain after a loss and if I am lucky I will start to lose again within 5 days or so.

My lowest recorded was 138.40 on 3/17. But the next day I was 137.60 and the day after that was 138.0. Then it went back down to 138.00 on Sunday morning. I have not weighed since. I will probably be about the same, maybe a pudge more. I can just tell I am not losing right now. My clothes are not extra big than I remember last week. I will be able to tell by my tinest jeans. I was able to fit into them last week. If I launder them and they fit, I might have lost. We all know how clothes shrink up in the dryer.

But my BMR is 1425 so 2000 calories may be pushing it for me. Maybe not. I have not ate over 2000 since Sunday (after I weighed) and have kept below 1950 or less.

I will see, I may be in pause mode again. I hope it isn't more than 12 days. Glad I have stayed off the scale.

                          Re: Soy flour thoughts?

Hey Mitz, I just realized I ate a little of everything today from every level:

I had a final serving of leftover berries (8 raspberries & 14 blueberries) so I ate them with my soy pancakes. And I had yogurt, 4 oz of unsweetened soy milk and the normal protein and veggies.

That must be a big no no based on your recent posting. Crap.

I changed my fitmenu for tomorrow and there will be no berries. But eating the soy pancakes again and yogurt ok on the same day?

Your body would probably appreciate some consistency. "Yo yo"ing isn't really helpful.

                            >>eating the soy pancakes again and yogurt ok on the same day?>>

If you've already done ok with yogurt, then having it and something new is fine.

You might like the taste of flax pancakes better though.

                              Re: Soy flour thoughts?

I am not trying to yo-yo. I took the advice to up my calories and I did. And then I think I might have gone overboard trying to focus on fat. But I am trying to find the happy middle and then juggling the right amount of carbs, fats and introducing new foods. It seems it takes practice for me to get the right amount for success.

I think yogurt is great. It has not given me a problem, been eating it for weeks.
I'll look into other pancakes. I gave my soycakes 6/10 flavor wise.

If it's more than 12 days without a loss I will need to find out why. Is it excess calories? Is it not? I won't know until I get back on the scale. Then try to figure out if I am just going to do a stall (4 weeks or more) or if something in my diet is affecting me.

                              Thanks
