    Hi,

    I just began OWL rung 1 yesterday. I added 2 oz of baby carrots to up my carbs. I also ate 3 hardboiled eggs with 1 tb mayo and 1/2 cup loose packed spinach. I ate 8 oz of grilled steak without any condiments. I ate 4 oz of grilled pork chop and 1 really large cucumber and 2 oz of swiss cheese with less than 1 carb per oz. I drank all my water and got lots of exercise. I bowled 2 games, did a lot of heavy duty gardening with a post hole digger, etc. and played basketball for half an hour.

    I woke up 1.5 lbs heavier and ketosis went from large amount to trace.

    What did I do wrong?

    Hi.

    Carrots are not allowed until the "starchy vegetable" rung. The OWL Rung 1 veggies are the veggies on the Induction Acceptable Foods List.

    The 1.5 pounds you "gained" might just be water retention. So get rid of the carrots, make sure you are drinking your water, and make sure you are measuring your vegetables and other foods.

      You're supposed to add induction veggies (5g of carbs) during OWL #1 and carrots are not allowed. It could also just be normal fluctuation. Think of everything that's going on in your body. A little bit of weight difference is normal.

        Fluctuations happens a lot. Expect them. People who get discouraged by day to day ups and down should probably not weigh everyday.

          Oops! Thanks so much for the answers. I didn't realize the carrots were not allowed yet. I won't touch them on this rung again.

          I'll pay better attention from now on.
