Re: Question..
Are you thinking of making your own golubki (cabbage rolls) or having some that someone else made? The big concern with the traditional recipe is the rice. Some people put a lot of rice in to stretch the filling; others use less. It is the rice that shoots the carb count way up.
Mr. Ski is Polish so golubki is a favorite dish of his. I make the rolls (without rice) or more often, make a casserole which is super easy and quick. Let me know if you're interested in the recipes.

Ohhh. I'd like the cabbage casserole recipe! Sounds yummy! Maybe easier than making the rolls?!?Mini goals:

Re: Question..
I shred cabbage and onion, put a layer on the bottom of a baking dish, then top it with a raw ground meat mixture (seasoned with salt, pepper, a bit of chopped tomato sometimes, herbs, etc.). Top that with another layer of the cabbage and two slices of bacon on top of that. Cover, bake, and halfway through the baking, uncover.
My cabbage-meat casserole is a variation of a bamburger krautbraten, a German meat and cabbage casserole, (Bamberger Krautbraten (Bramberger Meat and Cabbage Casserole) recipe cookbook Those recipes will often add caraway seed and use a combination of ground beef and pork.~Megs~

Re: Question..
Is cabbage a new food for you or have you been eating it since your Induction? If it is a new food, try it out again and see what happens. If you get the same results, then perhaps cabbage isn't a food for you.
Also look at the other ingredients in the rolls. Sometimes food combinations might derail you. For example, I cannot eat any food that combines eggplant and tomatoes because I start having cravings. But I can eat tomatoes and eggplant separately without this problem.

Re: Question..
To be honest...I have never been a cabbage eater! My bf suggested we have cabbage rolls and I turned my nose up to the idea! Only to find out they were delish! He did not add rice it was just beef egg onion and mushrooms rolled in the cabbage with the low carb tomato sauce! Soooo I will try the cabbage alone and see what happens!

Re: Question..
What's a nightshade? How do you know you are intolerant to them? I'm afraid I'm not going to regconize what my body doesn't like. Up until now, it's liked everything I put into it. LOL. Just kidding. But seriously, how do you know when you shouldn't be eating something?Mini goals:

Re: Question..
WHFoods: What are nightshades and in which foods are they found?
You know you shouldn't be eating something if you have a reaction to it.
For example, if you eat a food, and it makes you want more, for no good reason. That's not the only reaction though.J.

Re: Question..
So... I'm going to reread the book starting from chapters pertaining to OWL.
Anyway,
Weird thing happened tonight. I'm sitting here at work. Decided to have an iced beverage, Pomegranate drink made with Splenda. It was delicious. BUT... within 15 minutes of drinking it I was STARVING! and I mean Hungry. I wanted things I shouldn't have. I got up, walked around thinking that would distract me. Nope... I only saw coworkers eating peanuts, sherbert and Peanut butter cups. So, I went back to my little office space with my salad. I'm eating half of what I brought for dinner b/c I'm truly hungry. It's only 445pm... I'm never hungry this early. It's that blasted drink I had!
I can't believe I just now realized my first trigger. I just can't believe it!Mini goals:
