    Moving on from Ext Induction...

Hi Elizellen, sadie147, Megs, CathyR - I've finally made it to OWL!!!! You'll be so proud of me

I have been on Extended Induction for nearly 4 months now, and dug my heels so firmly into it because I was scared of everything about OWL. My sneak-peeks into the OWL forum seemed to be full of confusion, queries, difficulties from OWLers with trying to find their CCLL and trying to find out what foods make each person stall. It just sounds all so complicated!!!!! (Plus I got very comfortable in the Induction/Ext Induction forum and WOE) I have to admit that the more I was pushed into OWL, the more petrified I got because the world of OWL seemed so scary to me.

BUT I have been told numerous times that OWLers are an extremely friendly bunch and you don't bite (I hope not... ) So I hope you will all be very patient with me if I ask too many questions, stupid questions, or questions that I should've found in Search - but I will learn

    Welcome over here.

There's no need to be confused. Once you get into the OWL swing, it' gets easy.

Read the stickies and ask questions. You'll be OWLing in no time.

Welcome to OWL! I'm an OWL newbie too... and like you, was scared to make the move from extended induction, where I stayed for nearly four months. But things are going good... just take it slowly and enjoy the added variety.

So far, can't tell if the extra veggies are helping or hindering as TOM happened inconveniently! Roll on next week!

I'm sure we'll both be fine with patience and perseverance. Everyone here is as helpful and nice as they were in the extended induction forum.

      Hugs
      Sal

Hi Tickle :wave and Sally :wave Welcome to OWL :hug
If you havent read the new sticky from not2late on how to find your CCLL http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ic.php?t=72653 make sure you do.
It is quite long so you may need to print it out for re-reading later but I think it is very well written and has lots of good info and advice - thanks Megs for writing it. :hug
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Thank you Megs, Elizellen, 2big and Sallyslimsoon for your warm welcome!
:hug :hug :hug :hug to each of you. I am looking forward to starting OWL, and Sallyslimsoon, it is really reassuring to hear that you were once scared of starting OWL - it is comforting to know that I will one day get comfortable with OWL.

I think I will stay on Rung 1 and find my CCLL first (as in Megs sticky) - it is much simpler for me and I have always loved my veggies.

Thank you all for your warm welcome!

            Cheers.

It depends. If you decide to do your own low carb diet, you can do that: eat whatever you want and count the carbs. If you decide to follow Atkins, then you should re-read the OWL chapters in your copy of the book, read through the stickies in this forum and ask questions.

At some point during OWL you're supposed to stall...that's how you determine your CCLL. :nod

After that you can still go up the rungs but it's more mix-n-match rather than add-on in terms of carbs.
Also don't forget as the weight comes off you will need to exercise more to burn the same # of calories.

                          Congrats on moving on! :ThumbsUp

                            I'm confused Iap...

You say you need to exercise more to burn the same # of cals as the weight comes off?

I thought as you progress through OWL and then Pre-maint, the # of cals you eat goes down as the fats % are also reduced... so why would I need to exercise more? :confused
