  • Will be eternally grateful if you'd check my induction foods so far!

Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum and have to say that it looks absolutely brilliant.
I'm new to Atkins also and I'd really like to check that I've grasped the Induction phase correctly-I have a nightmare where I'm so happy that I'm not starving on this diet and find out after two weeks that I've put 2 stone on! So, I'd be really grateful if someone could have a look at what I've eaten over the last 2 days and any advice gratefully received.

    Sunday
Breakfast: 2 egg omelette with 2oz cheese and 1 med. tomato
Lunch: 4 bacon rashers and 1 tomato
Dinner: Tuna salad consisting of: tuna, 2 eggs, lettuce, pepper, celery, cucumber
i also had 2 cups of decaff tea (each with 2 teaspoons of splenda) throughout the day and huge amounts of water

    Monday
    Breakfast: same as sunday
    lunch: bacon and tomato
dinner: gammon steak with cabbage (cabbage is fried with leeks, peppers and bacon)
2 cups of tea and water
BUT i had an Option choc orange drink-5.6g carbs!

Does this sound right? Be really grateful for any advice

    Thanks xx

    Welcome!

Your menu looks pretty decent to me...do you feel like you are eating enough?
You may want to use www.fitday.com to track your foods...here's a link to help you with it..it's a terrific tool

First off, you've read Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution, version 2002 (DANDR for short), yes? There's no substitute for reading the book, so if you haven't done so yet, please get thee to a bookstore!

You don't give specific amounts of your veggies, so are you eating the proper amounts from the 2 veggie lists? Remember that all veggies are to be measured raw and many shrink considerably when they are cooked.

Do yourself a favour and ditch the Options drink. Odds are there's hardly anything in there that's on the Acceptable Foods list, and this is a time where you need to be teaching your body to turn to 'real' foods, as opposed to frankenfoods. You don't say what it was sweetened with...refer to DANDR to see which sweeteners we are allowed, and are told to avoid.

So see how the numbers line up at fitday...it can really help you to see where you may be overdoing it or underdoing it.
Are you aware that you might go through what's called "Induction Flu" in the first week of Atkins? If not, be prepared for it, but remember that the headache, body ache, nausea (all sorts of things can happen when your body is detoxing from caffiene, sugars and bad carbs) it will all pass and you'll feel like yourself in no time!
