  • Please review this for me...

    Hey guys and gals,

    No, this is not a test Slimin! I have renewed my efforts to stay carb-legal. Could you all please check to make sure I have not slipped up anywhere today? Look for any hidden carbs for me?

    Breakfast--
    1 c. cooked chicken

    Lunch--
    3 oz. tuna
    1 T. dill relish
    1 packet splenda
    2 T. Hellmann's light mayo
    1 c. lettuce for lunch.

    Dinner--
    1 c. cooked chicken
    2 T. Ranch dressing
    1/4 c. pumpkin
    2 oz. cream cheese
    1 T. DaVinci--caramel

    I have done 5 miles today. Whew!

    Water=144 ounces
    Total carbs= 10
    Total calories=1,008

    Veggies veggies veggies...where's yer veggies?!
    I see one cup of lettuce (skip the iceberg lettuce, go for romaine or spinach or anything dark green and leafy) and 1/4 cup of pumpkin....and that's it.
    Good job on the water! Your lunch looks good...but work on adding in a variety of veggies during the day. Throw some mayo on your chicken in the morning and eat it with a celery stick.
    How did the totals look at Fitday?

      Well, except for the veggies they look fine. I just wasn't very veggie hungry today.

            Ya need to up the fat. You are striving for 65% fat, 35% protein and 5% carbs.

              But, I am trying to watch my calories too so what can I use to add fat and not a bunch of calories?

                BabyDreamer, right now you should not be focusing on calories. Which by the way are really low for you. I am not sure of the calcualtions for calories but wow, you are really low.
                Do you have the book? Go to page 17 and read about calories, and see if that helps.

                    Thanks for the compliment on the five miles.

                    I have read about the calories and I will try to up them. What is in fitday is all I have consumed (minus 1 T. DaVinci syrup and 1 Splenda packet)...fitday refuses to let me put them in! I have a link to my fit day in my siggy.

                        I'm curious about that light mayo - are there carbs in it? Typically, light or fat-free stuff has added sugar. Otherwise, I agree with Barbde and Moochiecat.

                        I am way with Barbde on the calorie thing. You gotta up it. When I first started, I couldn't believe eating this way would make me lose weight, but it does. As heavy as we are, we NEED those calories in the beginning. I also understand about the lack of appetite.

                        I think you are doing great. Congrats on the 5 miles today!!

                          tep way from the syrup bottles.

                          Didi you know Dr Atkins stated the majority of your carbs must come from your veggies soo no veggies no other carb foods.

                          remember you are building the foundation for your hose if Atkins in induction and you want a very solid foundation exercise and eating correctly from the acceptable foods is the key so get those 3 cups in every day cause let me tell you you are going to learn to love veggies cause you will be eating them daily 3 cups plus all your OWL rung veggies too. yep Atkins is abhout veggies and healthy fats.

                          Now about your fats

                          lets look at that breakfast 1 cup chicken is high protein too high protein each meal should be balances so your Atkins engines are firing all day long some fats some protein and some carbs.
                          So add some veggies to breakfast and some fat and eat less protein for your already eatten protein to be correct for you 111 grams you need 1480 cals for the day to get your ratios right and another 470 cals of fat if you want to be doing Atkins correcty

                          Atkins correctly will control your cravings because you will not be haviong the proteins burned as sugars. Also because it takes more calories to convert fats to energy then it does carbs you can eat more total cals on an Atkions prograsm and lose weight then you could on a high carb plan, about 30%. so 1480 cals of Atkins eating will be eating 1138 cals on a high carb plan. I know that is a tough concept to wrap your head around but it is. you can check studies in the Atkins.com lib and see the science behind it.

                            The light mayo has two carbs; whereas, regular has 1. However, before this WOE I ate Miracle Whip only so the regular mayo is too thick or something for me. It is a taste thing really.

                            Plus, I detest eggs and the regular mayo tastes way more like eggs than the lite version. By detest, I mean I will only eat one if it is used to prepare something else. Otherwise, I can't...long childhood trauma story involving a rooster named Squacky, a hole-digger and well, never mind...
