  • Can I be annoying and double check....

    Hi,

    Could someone just check that I am still on the right track. Yes, I've read the book, but don't seem to find it as easy as you guys and have real probs with the conversions (I only have access to the pc at work m-f, not over the weekend)

    So....typical day...

    Breaky
    2 slices bacon
    1/2 cup Mushrooms

    Lunch
    3 egg omlette
    2oz cheese
    1 cup Salad

    Dinner
    Chicken strips fried in Olive Oil
    1/2 cup broccoli
    1/2 cauliflower

    or

    Steak with 1/2 cream
    2 cups Salad or the veg as above

    or

    Burger patties.

    #Sometimes, and ONLY if I have had all my water, I allow myself some diet Coke. I haven't drank tea or coffee now since 5th Dec.

    I think I've lost about 14lbs....haven't weighed since Xmas as have left my gym to move house and will be getting new scales for the house, more fussed about what size clothes I'm in as I've always been heavier even when in a smaller size...

    Anywho, can someone check my menu is ok??

    Looks very good Emzina. The menu is ok, check the ingredients of the burger patties though, just to make sure that there are no additional fillers in them.

    When you say "you allow yourself some diet coke", how much is "some". You really shouldnt be drinking it at this stage due to the sweetener that is used. Asparame is a no no for induction and is a commons staller in a lot of people.

      That might explain why I've slowed down! Allow means maybe 1-3 cans a week....so not a lot....

      Finding it really hard to eat breaky and to finish all my meals. I've been picking at my lunch now for an hour!!!!! Cold Omlette yuk!!!

      The burgers are from the atkins recipe book (adapted to legal ingredients that I have in the cupboard that aren't on the menu list!)

      I'm just getting to that satge where I'm a bit bored...want some new recipes, but all these American recipes just confuse me!

        To be honest, I have been living the Atkins way for over 2 years now, and I am still not bored with the foods.

        There is so much variation for us.

        Just one tip about breakfast. Dont feel that you have to have "stereotypical" breakfast foods. Most people vary it by having left overs from the night before, or even cheese and ham rollups for example.

        All of the recipes here can be adopted to the Uk kitchen, the most confusing thing to me in the past was the measurements, but there is an explanaition on the board somewhere about US v UK measuring. I will find a link for you.

        (get rid of the diet coke )

            Can't I even have it occasionally????? I need something as a treat....curbs any possible pangs for sweet things for me too....

            My partner isn't the most supportive and eats sweets and cakes and choccies all the time in front of me....and my fave...pizza!!! Need something.

              If you can, try and go a month with out anything but water. You will not regret it.

              I understand your concerns about diet coke, I was the same. I do now have the occasional can. ( but have resolved to drink nothing but water for the whole of January), so far I have managed it. But for you in the initial stage of the diet, I feel that is very important that you stay away from it. Sorry

              I don't have to email you the recipes as you can find them on the board. if you want me to, I can copy and paste the links to you. But you should be able to find them in the food forums a bit lower down.

                    if you can find a caffeine free Splenda sweetened drink you could have that as an occational treat after all your water oh and 64 ounces is a minimum not maximun check the water FAQ and you will never complain again about drinking your water.

                    were you struggling to eat your omlette cause your were not hungry? if so then don't eat it. just have a few bites of some carbs some protein and some fats and stop. when you get hungry you can eat again. if it was the foods you can have dinner for breakfast your know? pick any food fromthe list and have it at any meal.

                      Thats the problem, 2big. I am not aware of any drinks here that are easily accessable that are caffeine free and sweetened with Splenda.

                        One other thing, I'm donating blood on Monday and they always insist on having some orange squash and a biscuit afterwards, to get your blood sugar levels back up...it's only the one biscuit and I am NOT stoping donating blood....this shouldn't throw me off course too much should it??

                          In short I am afraid my answer would be yes. Even one biscuit will throw you off course.

                          But I have given blood in the past, I am sure its not a problem if you don't have a biccy or a glass of squash. You will still be ok.

                            I get really light-headed after giving blood and end up feeling very queasy if I don't eat something immediately afterwards....I've been on Iduction for about 5 weeks now, I'm not in the crutial 14 days..... I have a fear of passing out....oh dear....don't know what to do now...have a fairly rare blood group,. so should donate, but am being selfish and don't want to wreck my diet.....

                            Can anyone recommend something to take instead....??

                              I suppose if you are 5 weeks in, you could take a small Atkins Endulge bar (just this once) as you are doing a very selfless act.

                              I dont normally recomend those to anyone as they could get you the taste for sweet stuff again, but for blood donating purposes, maybe that the only way forward.

                              If you havent had them before or know little about them, you can buy them in Boots.
