    hey

i checked the my fat count with the fitday.com everything seems to be alright, my fat intake seems to be right. guess i am going the right way, and hope to see results soon. With results being same after being on atkins for the last 18 days is dissapointing.

      Hey again!!!!

i just rechecked my nutrition info and was shocked and confused to see that although it says you can have one cup of salad and one cup of veg, why is my carb intake increasing. this would be my typical diet, therefore i am having more than 24 carb in a day Food NameServingsServing SizeCalsFatCarbProt Brussels sprouts, cooked, from frozen, fat not added in cooking cupsproutQuantity not specified 651136 Cauliflower, cooked, from frozen, fat not added in cooking cup8 oz frozen package yieldsQuantity not specified 34073 Cucumber, raw cup, NFScup, pared, choppedcup, slicedcup, unpared, choppedoz, raw, yieldslarge (8-1/4" long)mediumslicesmall (6-3/8" long)stick, 4" longQuantity not specified 14031 Lettuce, raw cup, shredded or choppedoz, raw, yieldslarge headlarge leafmedium head (6" dia)medium leafsmall headsmall leafQuantity not specified 7011 Tuna, canned, oil pack cup, solid or chunks, drainedozcan (13 oz), drainedcan (6.5 oz), drainedQuantity not specified 28912043Totals 409 132452 ve

Re: Been on induction for 2 weeks and not lost anything

In fitday you can add your own food by clicking the add custom food button. Look at the label on the back of the food you are eating, and plug those numbers in. I do that instead of using the pre figures that fitday has put in. If you are only eating the required amount of veggies, you should not be getting more than 20 carbs a day because of veggies alone. I have to be honest, your post was a bit more than confusing. List exactly what you eat in a typical day with a format such as this:

        Breakfast:
        list what you eat

        Lunch:
        list what you eat

        snack:
        list what you eat

        dinner:
        list what you eat

It will make it ALOT easier for us to see exactly what you are consuming. List portion sizes too. You also need to realize that you have to subtract the fiber from the carbohydrate. So, if one serving of something you eat has 7 grams of carbs and 3 grams of fiber, you are really only COUNTING 4 grams of carbs. Also, you need to re read the list of foods you can eat. You can have more than a total of 2 cups a day of veggies. One list allows up to 3 cups, another list only allows 1 cup. If you have 2 cups from the first list, you can only have 1 cup from the second list. If you have 3 cups from the first list, you cannot have ANY from the second list.
        I did it!!

also, all I can see is quantity not specified, quantity not specified. You need to specify the amount you are eating because sometimes fitday will automatically pick a huge amount such as an entire head of lettuce. In that case, of course it will look as though you are eating too many carbs, because you are making it look like you are eating an entire head!

Re: Been on induction for 2 weeks and not lost anything

Another way would be to make your fitday account 'public' so people can log in and see the actual amounts you have entered - they might be able to spot where you might have put say, oil - and fitday has given figures for a cup where you only had a teaspoon!!

To let us view your fitday account you need to click on the 'home' tab in fitday and scroll down to the button called 'Make my journal public'. Fitday will give you a url that you can post here and we can click on to read your day's entry.

As coitrina suggested list each mealsworth of food seperately too, rather than adding your total of any food if you had the same at more than one meal..
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Been on induction for 2 weeks and not lost anything

I don't think you have enough fat in your diet. The ratios during induction should be 65% fat/ 30% protein/ 5% carbs. Atkins is a high fat diet, not high protein.

Use fitday to keep track of your food intake & then link it here so that we can see it. We'll be able to help you a lot better then.

              Good luck!

Re: Been on induction for 2 weeks and not lost anything

Is the menu in your fitday.com account typical of what you have been eating these last 2 weeks? If it is, I'm rather concerned about the amount of calories you are consuming. 760 calories for the entire day is rather low, especially when your "calories burned" are 2632. You might not be losing because your body believes it is starving and is holding onto to its energy reserves (your fat and muscle protein).

Also the amount of protein is concerning. As someone upthread said, Atkins is a high fat diet, not high protein. The pie graph indicates that your protein intake is close to 50% and higher than your fat intake. Excessive protein is converted to glucose, normally. In your case, this extra glucose is being used up by your body to help keep it alive, but it's still not enough to actually lose weight, because your body is too busy reserving your fat stores.

Please, go back a few days and review your menu. If you need to input those older menues into fitday, do so. You need to get a good idea of your calorie intake based on this solitary menu.

                      Same For Past 2 Weeks

THANKS TO ALL THOSE OUT THERE WHO ARE SUPPORTING ME.

Yes, the menu above has been my typical menu for the past 2 weeks. just with different proteins and veg on different days, and sometimes boiled eggs instead of scrambled or bulls eye.

the thing is this much quantity is enough for me and i am over full with this much amount of food anyway, plus all that water, although sometimes (very rare) i do feel peckish, where i would open a can of tuna and have half(only happened once).

Well what do i need to do to change? and do i still stay on induction or move onto OWL?? i am rather confused and really don not know what to do? what i did today was deep fried the chicken and added a spoon of mayo. than again i get scarred if i am overdoing it and will end up gaining more that lossing weight.

Once again thanks to all those who are advising me and supporting me. i am so glad i discovered this forum.

How did that affect your fat/protein/carb ratios, Azra?

I looked at your fitday account for today 30th Jan but couldnt see the mayo or the oil or fat from the deep frying added to check your ratios.

What amount of beans are you eating?? I didn't think beans were allowed on the Induction phase. Even though they are high in fiber, they still have a lot of carbs in them.

Re: Been on induction for 2 weeks and not lost anything

It is unfortunate, but 2 weeks isn't the magic number for some people. I ran into someone who actually did Atkins for 4 months without substantial weight loss. They were frustrated, but still relieved not to be gaining anymore so they stuck with it. One day in the 4th month, the person suddenly showed a weight loss of 16 pounds. Poof*

Keep going. It sounds like your body was yanked around a bit and is confused. It needs to know that you will keep feeding it, and not overstuff or starve it with crazy junk before it is going to be willing to release those fat stores.

Make sure you are getting a taste of meat fat and butter in your mouth everyday. Keep reassuring your body, that you mean it this time and won't go back to dragging it down with carbage.
