    Re: Menu/ Stall /Advice

I'm a little confused. Are you in induction? Have you read the book? Flax seed is not acceptable for induction, it's not until the nuts and grains rung.

I think this is what most people are going to see: splenda, sweeteners, and artificial chocolates! They may've worked for you on for a week while your body was dumping water weight, but if you have problems with hypoglycemia then it's not a good idea to trick your body into thinking you're eating something sweet when you aren't (needless to say, you're only allowed three servings per day in induction). Cut those out especially and see how that works out for you; that means no Diet Right either. Those bars are full of junk and porkrinds are limited to about a half of cup per day--they're full of sodium.

Just because it's splenda, doesn't mean it doesn't count!

Flaxseed is permissible on induction - to be used to help ease constipation. But as others said, there's a lot of artificial sweeteners on your post, and a lot of artificial foods. The chocolates and bars can and will stall you.

Also, where are your three cups of induction veggies a day?

You can do things during induction and still lose weight that will stall you later on. Induction shocks the body, and you'll lose the initial weight even if you screw up a little bit. (I actually ate some hidden sugar on veggies by accident during induction and still lost weight.)

So cut out the artificial stuff and up your vegetables and see what happens.

        Good luck!

Thanks for clarifying about the flax, lawyer. I meant to say that MUCH flax is not allowed until later own.

            Re: Menu/ Stall /Advice

I thanks for the input. I only have the flax seed meal once a day. I don't know why that would be a problem being as it is strait fiber. I also have irritable bowl and gastritis so the fiber is pretty important. But, I can see the point on the splenda. I did not realize that splenda effected insilin at all? I know that did not have to be that strict with it my first time around but, obviously it is going to be harder this time.
If I eat more than a cup of veggies a day I gain. I really do have extreme metobilic resistance. This is something that even doctors agree with me on. Are the shakes that bad? I only have one a day of that as well? Either as breakfast or a snack, Not both.

              Re: Menu/ Stall /Advice

The shakes/sweeteners are a problem for some people and not for others. I drank the shakes for awhile when I was working a job where I had to be at work by 6 and didn't have access to a microwave. For the 6 months I drank them, I maintained. So, if you're stalling, try cutting out the shakes and see what happens. If you have metabolic resistance, then you need to be particularly careful.

I'd give vegetables another try, too. You may see a temporary water gain from some of the induction vegetables (I usually do from broccoli and cauliflower) but over the long term, you should lose if you're getting the 3 cups of vegetables, not gain, because it will help keep your ratios in correct proportion.

And yes, many people find it's a lot harder to lose the second time around.

                Re: Menu/ Stall /Advice

I added some green pepper and a (little) chopped onion to my omlet this morning. I am going to make a chicken salad for dinner tonight. I will skip the shakes for a couple of days, add a little more veggie and see what happens. I think I will also skip the broc. and coli for a while as well. Though have not had that in a couple weeks, I have to say last time I had the coli I was up in weight the very next day. Thanks for the advice. I don't know how I am going to imcorperate my flaxseed without my shakes though?

                Peace to all,

Flaxseed isn't bad sprinkled on top of a salad. Or, you can make a mock danish and put 2-3 T in there. I also kinda like it straight.

                      Re: Menu/ Stall /Advice

flax seed is not straight fiber! it is actual very high in fat and has protein to go along with that very low carb intake. 1T is the recommended rule 12 chapter 11 limit for induction

You got a lot of frankenfoods with the mythical magical noncounting counting carbs. the only thing that goes in a humans mouth and comes out unmetabolized is fiber and the FDA refused to allow low carb companies to count their low inpact carbs as fiber because they did infact have an impact and are metabolized. Another thing to remember is Dr Atkins when he created his program never dreamed there would be 3000+ caloric cakes with 24 netr carbs for the whole fricking cake. when he created his plan and set his controls for losing weight he knew if you wanted cake you had to have a very small slice of say a betty crocker cake for those same 24 carbs biut the cakls were only 180 for the piece. huge difference in the amount of fuel being consumed by folk eating frankenfoods and only thinking carbs.

Dr Atkins because of folk using low carb counting foods just like you are change his induction in DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLURTION 2002 edition and rule 5 of induction was changed to say eat nothing not on the lists just one bite is the kiss of death. so get the new 2002 book and use chapter 11 induction as your eating guide line and you should see that stalled wight moving.

We are supposed to feed only our hunger and stop even if we have food on the plate carbs in our budget or even room in our belly. this far into Atkins your appetite suppression should be in high gear. if it isn't and you are hungry when you have those candies then you have a triggering food and more then likelyu it is the frankenfoods themselves. try a week wof clean Atkins induction with the full 3 cups of acceptable veggies a day spread out to all meals and see what happenes to your slowed weight loss.

We are all assuming you have been to your doc and had your blood work checked before you started again. if your thyroid is off then your weight loss will also be slowed.

                      Happy low carbing.

Hi and thanks again! You make very good points and I believe that you all are an asset to this site and the people on it or even visiting. I do take flaxseed oil tablets for the omega 3. I have cut out the shakes completely at this point. Though they are missed. I have admitted to a low carb meal bar on the run yesturday when My sugar was low. I added mor about that day and my 1.5 lb loss this morning in th introduce yourself thread. Thanks again and I will try to cut back on the bars as well. My Thyroid has been tested. I have bben switched from Armour Thyroid to Synthroid. Don't know if that is the best thing. I think that the more natural form Armour Thyroid would be better. But, They did not actually give me the numbers only that my thyroid is fine.

the armour has issues with standardization cause each animal that has its tyroid ground up to make the pills will have a different amount of the T4 and T3 in it and you will be fluctuating in your daily intake to normalize yourself.
the T4 in the medications like levoxyl and Synthroid are standardized and have to deliever a set amount into your system in a certain period of time so you have the same intake each day and can be niormalized better. Ask foir your numbers. the endocrine society lowereed the TSH normal range to 3 in 2002 and many docs and labs didn't update their ranges.

You know the whole thing is so confusing! I know that my border hostic doctor in the past was against Synthoid and very much for Amour Thyroid. My new (not holistic) Doctor is much more sure of the Synthoid. She just said that it was more consistant and that the Amour is not. How you explained it actually makes more sense as to why. But, did you know that Doctor Atkins in his interview with Larry King said to a caller on Synthroid, That Synthroid only addresses T3 and not T4 and that he felt more natural supliments were a better choice. It is all very confusing.....

It is hard to get a lot of reading in being a single mom of a toddler. But, I flip around and read here and there. What do you think of his book "Atkins For Life"? I recently ordered a used copy of that and his nutrients and suppliments book....forgot the name? For .99 cents a peice on Amazon. I have not recieved them yet, but was wondering if anyone had read them or liked them.
