Is there any way you can find out in advance where you are going to eat and look at their website or phone them and ask what the menu options are, so you can work out what you can eat there?
If not make sure you have with you the list of allowed foods (there is a wallet sized list on the induciton forum you can print out) to refresh your memory of what is 'legal'.
I used to carry packets of 'legal' salad dressing with me so I know it was OK and order salad with no dressing. Or you can usually get plain oil and vinegar to mix up your own dressing if you cant find out from the wait staff if dressings have sugar added.
Order grilled meats with no sauces and plain steamed veggies and ask for some real butter or sour cream to add fat to your veggie carbs.
If you are going to a fast food place you can usually order without the bun or bread, pizza places usually have wings which if they are not coated with breading or batter will be fine.
And dont be embarrassed to ask for no bread or croutons - most staff are used to special dietry requirements.
