  • Day 4 - Induction

    Hi,

I'd really appreciate if someone with more experience in Atkins could check my menu. I'm in the induction phase and I plan to stay here for 5 weeks.

So my menu for yesterday was:

    Breakfast

    1 ounce Camembert cheese
1 thin slice of Swiss cheese (~1/2 ounce)
    3 slices of cucumber (~ 20g ?)
    1/4 small tomato (~ 25g ?)
1.5 oz of iceberg lettuce + 1 teaspoon of olive oil + 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar
1 cup of green tea (~ 200 ml)

    Lunch

3 oz fried fish (croacker), not breaded
    40 g tuna fish (canned)
1 ounce leeks, boiled, drained, with salt
    0.5 oz raw celery
1 ounce raw spinach + 1 teaspoon of olive oil + 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar

    Dinner

1 pork steak, meat only (~3 oz)
2 thin slices of Swiss cheese (~ 1 ounce in total)
1 ounce shredded green lettuce + 1 teaspoon of olive oil + 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar

    Water intake: ~ 4.5 liters

    Thanks a lot!

    Re: Day 4 - Induction

It looks good to me, as long as the weights of veg you listed add up to 3 cups in total.
You can check this by looking on the sticky thread in the 14-day induction forum called 'weights of veg per cup' which one of our members (soliwit) compiled.

It seems an interesting varied menu - well done

BTW you stated that you intended to stay on induction for 5 weeks, was there any special reason for this? The reason I ask is that with a total of 40 pounds or so to lose you dont really fall into the category of those who might benefit from a longer induction than the normal 2 weeks. Also many of our members have found that moving to OWL after the first 14 days does not slow down their rate of loss and it does allow more choices, thus making it easier to stay on plan.

If, when you have completed the first 14 days on induction, you find from the chart in DANDR that you are not very resistant to weightloss I would start on OWL rather than stay on induction.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

      Thanks for your reply!

Those 5 weeks of induction might also be less if my rate of losing weight is acceptable (after 4 days I can't really say). The idea is that I would like to start OWL only when I'll have about 10-12 kg left to lose, and then continue with OWL until I'll have 5 kg left.

I estimated that it will take about 5 weeks to lose 8-10 kg by considering my previous (relatively unsuccessful) attempts to lose weight (though not with Atkins ). Do you think it's a bit too exaggerate to start OWL when I'll be only 10-12 kg away from my goal? It's the first time I'm following this diet, so I don't know how one's body responds to it.
