10? 10 chicken wings have close to 900 calories, while 10 chicken drumsticks have about 1000. A large dollop of mayo (let's say 2 tbsp) is another 200. I'm not sure how your calories add up for the day, but a 1200-calorie lunch seems a lot to me. While it's true that Dr. Atkins wrote we are not supposed to count calories, calories still matter. When you are in ketosis, you can eat 200-300 calories more than you would otherwise... but anything above that will make you gain weight.

Milk is not allowed during Induction. You could use cream instead.

Your veggies should add up to 3 cups -- maximum 1 cup from the "Other Vegetables" list and the rest from the "Salad Vegetables" list.

You don't write exact quantities, but I think your menu has about 2500 calories. Make sure you eat just enough to satisfy your hunger, without stuffing yourself.

        hiya Georgiana
Thanks for the response. I always wondered about the chicken wings. I cook a pack and have about 4 or 5 for lunch, and then the other 5 go into the fridge so if I feel snacky, I nibble at that...hmmm do you think maybe I should change that too tuna salad or chicken salad??
Do you have any ideas for snacky things. I've thought of pepperoni but thats quite high in calories too., and I don't really want to eat to much cheese. The avocados around here are never ripe, and I do snack on a few olives, but like to save them if I'm making a mince dish..

I thought my tomato and two large mushrooms would be my two 'salad veg' and my broccolli/caullifour or spinach would make up my one veg veg...
        xx

Well, you can have chicken wings one day, drumsticks the next, tuna salad the following day and so on. If 4 or 5 wings/drumsticks would be enough for you, then by all means eat 4-5 not 10.

Now I don't want to make you freak out about calories. If you are hungry, you should eat. Just make sure you don't overeat. You can have meat (tuna salad, wings, etc.), cheese or veggies as snacks. I don't really snack, but if you look around the board there is a few threads with snack ideas. You could also get some inspiration from Linda's website:

Tomatoes are not a "salad" vegetable, they are the on the "other" list. You can find the lists in the book (pages 124-129) or here:

I do mine with mayo and mustard. Sometimes I add red pepper or paprika and sometimes I add curry powder for a change of taste.

Tum tum, I have found that I tend to use more mayo than I need. Trade your large dollop for a wee bit instead. You may find you can get along with less and the mayo really packs in a lot of calories too. Same goes for wings. I will usually take have as much of anything as i want and then decide I will wait 30 mins and see if I still want more food. If I do, then I eat a little more. It is my way of becoming more aware of my hunger vs my appetite.
