Re: why am i gaining
You may be eating too much cream. Cream is limited to 2-3 tablespoons. As part of the "Special Category Foods" you are allowed to have 3 oz, but this comes with a warning saying that it may stall or slow down your weight loss. In your menus, there's cream in the quiche and cream as a snack... which adds to more than 2-3 tbsp. Also remember you are only allowed to have one "special" food per day, so if you have more than 2-3 tbsp of cream, you can't eat avocado for example.
I see you have a small avocado there. Avocados are limited to half a small one per day.
Diet sodas may give you some trouble as well, even if sweetened with aspartame. For me they cause weight gain (water retention probably, but nevertheless...).
Do you know what the fat-carb-protein percentages are in those menus? Or the number of calories? Are you adding a lot of salt to what you are cooking?

Re: why am i gaining
Something about your snacks. We are supposed to eat only when hungry or when 6 hours have passed since our last meal. Are you sure 3 tbsp of heavy cream are the best way to satisfy your hunger? And are you really hungry when you have that cream or do you just like cream?
Instead of cream, you could have a wedge of cheese for example (but make sure you stay within 3-4 oz per day). Or some veggies with dip. Or meat..."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Sorry. I'm rusty... This is not correct:
Correct is:Also remember you are only allowed to have one "special" food per day, so if you have more than 2-3 tbsp of cream, you can't eat avocado for example.

Oh, okay... I thought you eat it with a spoon since you didn't write the tea there.Originally posted by laura1986 View Posti was putting it in my tea i thought u couldnt use anything else?? i dont eat between meals??
In any case, you are over your cream limit, and that may interfere with your weigh loss. How much tea are you drinking? Maybe you can cut down on cream a little and use only 1 tbsp for example. Are you drinking decaf tea?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: why am i gaining
I think you are just retaining water, because you'd have to be on a mission to gain 5 lbs of fat in 3 days.Originally posted by laura1986 View Posti dont add salt to anything. i walked for miles today but apart from that no. uve messed it up havent i. i did post my menus nd they said it was ok. gutted now. its creame fraiche (sour cream) in with the only 3 tablespoons a day??
I count creme fraiche as sour cream, so it is limited to 1 oz as part of the "Special Category Foods". Again, remember these foods come with a warning."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: why am i gaining
Okay. Let's take them one by one.
Double cream. You are allowed to have 2-3 tablespoons per day as part of your beverages. You can also have an additional 3 oz (6 tablespoons) as part of the "Special Category Foods".
Creme fraiche. This is different from double cream. It is limited to 1 oz (or 2 tablepoons) per day and it is part of the "Special Category Foods". However, the book says:
See, so you can have "one ounce of sour cream" (i.e. creme fraiche) or "three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream", not both.Special Category Foods
To add variety, each day you can also eat ten to twenty olives, half a small avocado, one ounce of sour cream or three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream, as well as two to three tablespoons of lemon juice or lime juice. But be aware that these foods occasionally slow down weight loss in some people, and may need to be avoided in the first two weeks. If you seem to be losing slowly, moderate your intake of these foods.
So you can have either
2-3 tablespoons of double cream + 3 oz double cream
or
2-3 tablespoons of double cream + 1 oz creme fraiche.
But 3 oz of double cream or 1 oz of creme fraiche may cause problems to some folks.
Does this make more sense now?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: why am i gaining
Ahhh Laura!!! Bless you!! I havent been on the forum for a few days so came on during lunch and read all the posts I have missed since I last came on from the start. Reading your progression is better then a week watching soaps! Please don't give up, I had the same thing but sometimes it can be your body getting used to eating so much. I don't know about you but I was a habitual meal skipper and learning atkins as a way of life was to actually force myself to eat more regularly as well as losing weight. I promise you you will notice a difference but you have to be proper strict on yourself at the start.
Do you have the book? It really helps to read it and I have a spare copy at home I will happily post you if you want? I'm a real geek - sometimes I read it on the bus on my way to work but it helps me to stay focussed.
