  • Can someone look at my food for today?

    Hi, I just want to make sure I am doing things right so I was hoping some of you guys might take a look at what I ate today and tell me if it looks okay. First of all I have always eaten several small meals throughout the day so I don't have a "breakfast, lunch, and dinner" so to speak. Here's what I have had today:

    Morning:
    1 C. coffee with 1T. heavy cream
    3 ounces of beef brisket with 1T. butter melted on top

    Noon:
    2 small turkey burgers with 1 tsp. butter

    Around 3pm.
    1 1/2 C Tuna salad made with tuna, real mayo, celery and one boiled egg
    10 pork rinds

    Around 6pm.
    1 bison burger with sauteed mushrooms and red pepper and 1 oz. melted cheddar.

    I have also drank lots of water and 1/2 can of Diet Rite.

    Is this okay? I am guessing at some of the amounts...like I didn't actually measure the tuna salad but that's about how much I think I consumed and I didn't actually measure the brisket, either, but I know about how much 3oz is and I am pretty sure that's close to the amount I had. Is that alright or do I need to measure everything?

    was the brisket cooked in a sauce containing sugar?

    did you make these yourself? if they were store bought, did you check for fillers or sugars?
    You need to have 3 cups of salad veggies and up to 1c of other veggies.. you don't appear to have had alot of veggies.

    Im just coming into the second week of induction, this site is wonderful for helping you out..WELCOME!!!!

        The brisket was plain and not in any kind of sauce, nor was sugar or anything else used when it was smoked. The turkey burgers were frozen but there were no hidden ingredients...I checked.

        I was going to eat a salad with dinner but then I discovered my greens had gone bad and I didn't want to run to the store to get any. I know I need more veggies for the day so I thought I would eat a few more before bed. They don't have to be salad greens, do they? From reading the induction list there is a wide variety of stuff besides salad greens I can choose from. Wouldn't more sauteeed mushrooms and peppers work?

            Having a variety is good, but we all have "circumstances" sometimes!

              The ingredients on the turkey burgers just said "Turkey" and "flavoring" and it had 0 grams of sugars and carbs. I have had 6 bottled waters so far and will probably drink more before going to bed.

                You should try to spread your veggies throughout the day so that you aren't eating all of your carbs at once - that can cause your blood sugar to spike. Eat either 3 cups of salad veggies or 2 cups salad veggies & 1 cup "other" veggies.

                Other than the lack of veggies, it looks like you did really well!

                  Thanks, I would have normally done that but this was Sunday and we were out running around all day. I actually ate those two turkey burgers in the car between stores. LOL During the week things will be more routine where I can actually sit down and fix myself a salad with lunch.

                    Have you used FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal ? Sometimes it is useful to have a quick check to see if you are getting a good fat to carb/protein ratio going.
                    Are you losing fine and feeling good? Don't forget your multi vitamin.

                      This is only my second day so I doubt if I have lost anything but I feel just fine. I did sign up for FitDay this morning but unless you weigh everything how can you get an accurate count?

                        You can measure or even count some items.

                        But you're right ... you do have to "measure" in some fashion if you want an accurate count.

                          It does give you a chance to put in volume on a lot of stuff. Probably not as accurate as it could be but you just need ball park numbers to get a feel for being in the right area. I check the raw weight of meet and then I enter it raw. So if I cook up a steak of 350 grams that is what I enter. (I am a gram person ) I think I would give it a try. See how you like it.

                              i dont measure because im pretty good at eyeballing. the weight of things messes me up, and even now that i know how much 2 oz of cheese looks like, i cut off the cheese and it's always between 2 and 2.4 oz. I think i learned that from my previous dieting experience. i probably go over by a little bit with the veggies, but since i know it's ok with veggies, im not worried about it. I think anyone will learn what a cup of lettuce looks like over time.
