  • Before and after, 8 stone total loss.

Me before at 17 stone (started at 19.5)

Me now at 11.5 stone, (160lbs)

Anyway, see if you think theres a big diff .

    Started at Dec 2005

Done about 5 months of atkins properly, and about 6 months of maintenance (1 month on 1 month off basically).

theres pics of me heavier but cant find them on hdd think they are deleted from my personal memory too!

One thing tho - advice on whether i should lose more, im considering dropping down to 10.5 stone to be properly slim.

    Cheers

WOW! One year later, quite the transformation. Do you feel good and healthy at your current weight?

Well alot healthier, i must feel more comofrtable i guess because i have alot less motivation to lose the last 12 lb's or so i was planning on. Im joing the RAF as a pilot in a few months, which means i will HAVE to get fitter for that . Incase you are wondering my age im 21. I think really though i would like to go to 10- 10.5 stone. Its quite strange as my original goal was that i would be chuffed with getting to 13.5 stone!

I guess really im asking the question of whether you think its a good idea for me to go for the 10.5, my family are getting quite silly about it as if i have some weight obsession. I guess because ive been rly quite large all my life.

Healthier and more comfortable in your own skin is great. Our weight goals do change throughout life. Sorry, I don't know what "chuffed' is, but I think you're saying you've exceeded your original goal? I would say your upcoming RAF thing is incentive to go ahead and get as fit as you can.

WOW! That is a remarkable transformation. As to your weight and what weight you should be... what is your body fat? It it is in a good range for men then the number on the scale is not as important. Lots of people following Atkins (including exercise) find that their scale weight can be more and they still have lower body fat. I'd recommend measuring yours with some calipers (very cheap at most sports stores).

Congratulations! You've done brilliantly and to join the RAF? What a success!

ian! what a wonderful job you've done!
i would agree with silly, that if you are comfortable where you are, then things are good. you don't have to fit into a preselected mold of what others say you should be. let you body and mind tell you if you are satisfied where you are. i don't see any mention of how tall you are.

ian, i think you are right at the numbers!
i am looking at a chart that has a 5'9" male at an average weight of 154.
another chart i am seeing says for a 21 year old male, 168 is average. you are within those two numbers.

if you happy where you are, then stick the 160 and continue on with maintenance, making sure to exercise.

Ian...you have done a fantastic job. I agree, you should make the decision on healthy body percentages and how you feel. As long as you aren't obcessed with the numbers -- but instead looking to be your fittest and most comfortable weight. Great job!
