                  Re: a before pic

thanks you all again...but looks are only a small reason for my losing weight. i lost my mother almost 3 years ago to coronary artery disease. she was only a week shy of turning 49. she was the same height as me, but never over 130-140 lbs. for me its more about health. lower cholesterol, blood pressure, and triglycerides. hers were always through the roof, and i'm finding myself in the same boat. even if i never get quite as thin as i'd like, i atleast want to improve my risk factors for heart disease, so i can be around to watch my boys grow up. and looking hot in clothes again would be nice, but its not the most important thing to me.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your Mum.
You are wise to be doing Atkins for health reasons. It is a very healthy way of eating and when you start as young as you, you'll reap lifelong, enormous benefits.

                      Re: a before pic

Being a shorty too, I know how tough it is to keep the weight off. Atkins works well and you should be able to meet your health goals.

My cholesterol was so high they were going to put me on meds.. I said, "No" I want to try diet."
He told me to do low fat and high carbs.. ...
I said ok and went to Adkins.
On my next visit my cholesterol was down by an amazing amount..
He congratulated me on taking the low fat diet so seriously..
I sort of smiled and said, "oh, but i didn't! I went the other way... I'm doing Adkins".
He sort of frowned and said, "ok, I guess if it's working this well, keep it up".

He's an MD and he had no ideal what Adkins was or how it works..

Think I should change doctors? LOL....

                        Re: a before pic

Catblue, congratulations on lowering your cholesterol! Many doctors are skeptical about Atkins because of all the misconceptions flying around. They believe what they hear about us aktineers eating a lb of bacon a day, with no vegetables or fruit, and they don't bother to do their own research to find out what its REALLY all about!

                          Yes, I'm learning that...

Dr. Adkins must have really shook up the medical world for them to be holding on the nutrition myths so tightly!
