Wear comfy, stretchy clothes. And if you have ugly feet like me, get a pedicure, lol.Originally posted by divaindubaiI'm going for my very first Yoga class on Sunday night...I'm really excited about it! Anyone ever tried Yoga, or can anyone give any advice on it? Thanks! :hug

Like Checkers said, some of the poses look deceptively "simple"---until you try them. They are usually held for a certain number of breaths and you'll be surprized how fatigued those muscles will get.
It increases your flexibility, strength and coordination. So have fun with it.

Start stretching now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will feel it. I have the tapes and do them for a little bit. That might help you to stretch some of the muscles you rarely use.
Don't worry, you'll feel it Monday AM, but I bet you'll feel great! :yes
Good for you. I'm glad you are going. I think you'll love it when you get into itF/30

Thanks Sidrah! I have been reading a lot about the hormone cortisol (the stress hormone) and its negative effects on weight loss....
Apparently if you are one of those people (like myself) with most of your weight gain on your abdomen, it is a sign of too much stress over the years...
Plus I'm feeling stressed out lately, and trying to find natural ways to heal myself so I can effectively work and be a wife, mother, etc etc at the same time, plus lose this damn weight :nod
Thanks for your input!34 yr old Female

wow, Yoga is really interesting!
I went to the class last night, and it lasted for about an hour, the lights are dimmed, and there were candles at the front of the class, only 7 women in the class which is probably a good size. You do all these different stretch moves, and I'm giog to go back for some personal sessions with the instructor, because she suggested it as it takes a few sessions to get used to the moves.
I felt much better after I attended the class. They have other relaxation methods as well like water floatation, where you float in this device full of water with epsom salts for a while.
I would rate yoga as good, after my first session ever doing it. :nod34 yr old Female

Good for you.
After a month or so, you'll be surprized how powerful those poses are in improving your coordination, agility, flexibility and strength (Notice for the standing poses, your ankles, knees and thighs are primarily engaged. Some of the lying or sitting poses will use your wrists, elbows and shoulders. And of course, your core abdominal and back muscles are always used.)
Yoga is an example of "little things meaning (and doing) alot". It just gets pooh-poohed too often as solely a relaxation type activity than as a serious workout.~Megs~

Anyone who "pooh-poohs" yoga is talking out of the behind they're not flexible enough to see
- If they're saying yoga isn't tough and strength/endurance/flexibility building, it's cuz they haven't TRIED it.
I love yoga - & yep. It hurts & first. LOL
