    I was wondering what supplements help boost the metabolism. I currently take chromium gtf 500mcg daily as well as a super good multi vitamin. I have heard things about cla and gla and green tea and cayanne pepper. Any info and experiences would be greatly appreciated [as well as doesages]. I have lost 6 lbs in the last month [two week induction and owl]. My job is pretty active as I am a painter. I know I should drink more water. I havn't given up the caffine, some say it doesn't affect wieght loss others say it does.

    If you're not drinking enough water, all of the supplements in the world won't help.

    All you need is a good multi vitamin, one without iron.
    You can add a B-12 complex and omega oils, too.

    If you want to raise your metabolism, get in 30 min of cardio a day and do weight training. It really works!

      Mel, do you lift weights, even free weights? Increase your muscle mass, and you will naturally boost your metabolism. Also, try the several small meals per day trick, this works well for me.

        any supplement that you are deficient in will help boost your metabolism when you get back to normal. That is what the lastest quick weight loss fad add calcium to your diet is all about sponsored by the dairy council and some of the yogurt companies. When you are deficent glands and or organs attempt to make corrections from stored places and the chemicals they release like the calcium defincey corrective measures affect other glands like the thyroid in a negative way so it corrects your blood calcium level but slows your metabolism. Thus adding the calcium rich foods will noost metabolic rate cause when the defincy is corrected that gland will shut off its chemicals.

        there are several ways to increase metabolic rate like eating thermogesic foods from your Atkins lists, eating several smaller meals as the human body increases metabolic rate in response to food being consumed, drinking the water you need because water is used in weight loss processes, some supplements that asssit in the fat burning process can help your weight loss if you are deficent in them like the Acetyl L caritine which helps transport the fatty acids into the areas of your cells that break them down for energy. Keeping your fat intake high and your carb and protein intake low can boost your fat burning metabolism too as proteins can be converted in the human liver to sugar for furl burning and that will evoke insulin for processing which just like when your carbs are too high will cause the storage of your body and dietary fats until that insulin level goes back down.

          This is so misleading! They make you think something magic happens. 2Big, why is it that they say that taking calcium supplements dont give the same effect? If it is calcium that we are lacking, one would think a supp would be just as good.

            Since the study was done by eating yogurt as the caluim replacement in the study sponsored by the yogurt company and the milk board used dried nonfat milk calcium sources in its study they apply their results as they want. actually if you check I think they say supplements haven't been proven to be as effective not that they aren't effective. the fat loss study was stages to have a best dairy result as it was no supplement diet 8% fat loss, diet with calcium carbonate (TUMs type) 42% loss, diet with medium amount of low fat milk 60% loss,and diest with high amount of low fat milk69% loss. See not the same amount of cals and calcium just varying the calcium sourse was done. There is a lot more food value in dried milk powder then a crushed tums pill. I think given that choice I'd eat less food on the dried milk as my calcium diet wouldn't you?

            Sort of like the Quaker Oats company saying their oatmeal was proven to reduce cholesterol in 30 days by 10% cause they did the test on their oatmeal and not other brands, but all regular oatmeal has the same soluble fiber compound in it that lowers cholesterol a little more then 9% and they rounded up to 10%
