True, all true, but I'm wondering if it is so awful, given that the alternative is that you and everyone post about it all day long..........

I rarely eat out at fast food places but recently had occasion to eat at McDonalds. I was pleasantly surprised that when I asked for my "Big n Tasty" without the bun it was served in a nice little bowl with fork and knife and they never even batted an eye about it. I was quite impressed!

Re: why is it so hard???

I asked for a chicken taco in a bowl without the tortilla one day at Taco Bell. The person taking drive through orders kept asking how did I want that? I could hear in the background everyone else telling her "she just wants it in a bowl!" as if it was a no brainer.

It would have been a little more humorous to me if I didn't have all three kids in the car. They were tolerant, but it seems teenagers don't truly enjoy their moms causing problems every time food is ordered.

At least the people in the background got my order right, and gave me quite a tasty chicken taco salad with more fillings than the taco would have had.

can u actually eat the chicken from Taco Bell? I read somewhere that it has alot of sugar in it...I actually used to work at Taco Bell and I know the ground meat has tons of sugar in it...I used to get bored and read the nutritional facts lol

Re: why is it so hard???

I have found Wendy's to be the most cooperative with leaving off the bun. I was especially happy when I found out they even PUT A BUTTON on the register for NO BUN -woo hoo!

The trick is still the workers. Depending on who is working, they still get confused - what to put this bunless burger in - I just tell them - "Use the side salad container." I actually had one employee ask me what to do with the condiments I asked for. "Put them on the burger - duh!"

With McD's I don't even bother asking them to de-bun or de-biscuit it. It confuses them. I just do it myself. I do love cheese, and HATE trying to scrape it off and not get the bread, but oh well, such is life.

I'm not a Burger Thing fan, so I haven't experienced their madness. We don't have any Hardees in the Washington, DC area (that are prevalent, anyway).

I just keep hoping it will get better...

                    Nice theread!

Re: why is it so hard???

It was the better choice (rather than not eating) that I've done a couple times in the past year. Good question, though. I checked their nutritional calculator and it shows 4 carbs for the chicken ranchero taco with salsa, cheese and dressing, sans the tortilla. Checking the chicken only, it shows 1 carb but 0 carbs sugar. (rounded down possibly?).

Just fyi we have a thread here with many fast food outlets' websites where you can look up the info in advance if you know you are going to eat out and want to work out your best options.
