So I've lost 40 lbs and no one has said a word. I even have to remind my husband who then says: Oh yeah, you've lost lots of weight hon.

Re: How much weight do you have to lose before someone notices?
I started out about the same weight as you and it was around the 35-45 pound before people started noticing. You are also taller than me, so your weight was distributed differently than mine. Most started noticing on my face before anything else.

Re: How much weight do you have to lose before someone notices?
Haha Not to mock your pain, but I'm totally feelin ya chicky! I'm in the same boat. My husband is usually the MOST complimentary person when it comes to me. EVERYday he tells me how pretty I am, etc... But when it comes to the weightloss.. nothing. I don't get it. It's not that he doesn't acknowledge it when I bring it up, but there was never a revelation... Honey, your butt doesn't look quite as huge as it used to! Haha
My feelings were hurt about it for a little while, but I realized that it was silly. If he wasn't always complimenting me on my general appearance, I'd be kicking his butt. But he does.. so I'll get over it.
My family, on the other hand, started noticing after about 30-40 lbs. Some people at work haven't noticed at all... so who knows.

Re: How much weight do you have to lose before someone notices?
I have lost 41 pounds. Some people notice and others don't. It's funny isn't it. My husband thinks that some people don't say anything because they are afraid they might offend, with a comment like, "Wow you lost alot of weight". He thinks some people would take that to mean "Wow you were really fat and now you're less fat". I don't know if I agree with his thinking, but maybe that's it. I think people just get so wrapped up in their own lives that it is hard to notice details about someone else.Michele SW250/CW 226/GW150 F, 38, 5'6"
I was down to 175 in 2007 and I will get back there again!

Yeah, and you will also find out that people might be thinking that you are sick and are afraid to ask or mention your weight loss. Guys don't usually comment much either, I have noticed.BARB

Yeah men, real supportive eh? NOT! I've known the guys that I work with a lot longer than I've known my husband.

Re: How much weight do you have to lose before someone notices?
If it's all guys I'm willing to bet they're afraid to offend you. When I was working at the truck stop guys that I knew for years and years would ask in a whisper "Don't take this wrong...but are you losing weight?" I think a guy asking a girl if she's lost weight is right up there with a marriage proposal on the scary questions list for the male species! Lol!!!! They weren't all like that though...one who was a good friend liked to keep an eye on my pants and loudly ask "Are you going to wait for those to fall off before you buy new ones?" He's lucky I liked him. Oh...and as for your husband it's probably just because he sees you every day. It took quite awhile for me to say "Hey honey! You look waaaaay different!" I think he'd lost like 30lbs by then! Lol!

Re: How much weight do you have to lose before someone notices?
My husband just doesn't notice the fat when I gain it or lack of it when I lose weight. He always thinks I'm beautiful even when I look my worse. He sees me, but not my changes. He doesn't ever notice the wrinkles or the aging either. I'm not going to complain! It might have been helpful if he noticed and cared, but I'd rather have him not notice than nagging at me about it over the years.

Re: How much weight do you have to lose before someone notices?
They noticed sooner but were really snarky for the most part. I had one woman who weighed around 330 and always complaining about her weight (while doing nothing about it) tell me my cheeks were "sallow" and I looked "really sick" I was still in the 170's or so! Other girls would tell me "You're getting so skinny...I hate you." That kind of thing. Rarely an all out compliment. Most of the women in my family were really kind and supportive though, it was mainly women I wasn't related to."Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

Re: How much weight do you have to lose before someone notices?
I will ask and ask the hubby if he thinks i look a tinny bit thinner, i says i dont know. I have to give it to him becuase he does see me every day. Now if I had not seen him in about a month and lost the weight and then asked and if he had said something like "NO, I DONT SEE IT" then i would be like, WHAT. anyway as far as the rest of the guys i would have to sayOriginally posted by BugabooI think a guy asking a girl if she's lost weight is right up there with a marriage proposal on the scary questions list for the male species! Lol!!!!!
That is sooo true!!!!
I totally agree with thats why most men dont say anything.
As far as women, if they work with you and see you everyday then its the same situation and the DH but I do have to admit that most women after time will notice, its just a women thing i believe the questions come in this order....
Hey are you losing weight......
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? SPILL IT????
lol
Honestly though the hubby still says i look the same, he does notice my pants look a little baggy on me. When i visited family in texas this summer, they noticed right away. True friends are the only ones who will be honest with you and tell you that you look goooood.
I have only no let me reword that "I HAVE LOST" 18.6 pounds and as long as i feel it and see it, its all goood.
I have a friend that when from 169 to 136 and you can tell right away. And i told her as soon as I noticed that GIRL YOU LOOK GOOD. and of course im thinking <<< im soo jelous>>>.lol
