Being married for 29 years ...my husband seldom complimented me on my looks. I think he was just as ashamed as I was over my appearance, however he never once said anything negative. In fact he never said anything at all. Now, he is always complimenting me. I'm not used to it and although it is embarrassing to me, I love it.

Also, at the conference, a lady was walking behind me in the hall and all at once she said, "OMG, your butt is getting so skinny!!" That really made my day and I still think about that two months later. She is small and very cute, so her compliment made my day, month and probably will forever ring in my ears.

That would have to be the day in class (over a year ago, shortly before I reached my goal) when a classmate came in and saw me finishing up my dinner (evening class) with a piece of nice green pepper. She took out her dinner of some kind of junk food and commented to me that she was gaining weight. Then she said, "you don't have a weight problem. But look what you're eating." So I told her how much weight I had lost on Atkins and her jaw hit the floor. She hadn't seen me in my "heavy days" so she had no idea that I do have a "weight problem" (carb addiction) and if I go back to my old ways of eating the proof will be here for all to see.

A lady at my kids school came up to me last week and said, "I don't know you, but I just had to stop and tell you how good you are looking". That someone I don't know noticed my weight loss, and took the time to tell me that I looked good, really felt great!

Wannabethintoo and Elsie150. Don't get discouraged. You two are doing great!

Wannabe.. Didn't you say that you work with all men? Men just don't comment about a woman's weight. I could just imagine them talking in the break room. "Hey did you notice that she's losing weight?" "Yeah, I did, she looks great!" "So, did you see that game last night." I'm sure they have noticed, but they would never think of telling you. You can't lose 55 pounds and it not be noticeable.

Well... 3 things... all this week...

we met up at happy hour for a few to celebrate his promotion and he says "damn you are getting thin dude!" .... for a guy to actually say this to another guy take an act of god... or a few shots of jim beam... or both.

People have noticed; you can take that to the bank. Some people just don't comment because weight is a sensitive issue. I mean, what if they said, "wow you are looking good" and you said "oh I didn't before"? Plus, some people (my sister and sister-in-law) are skinny, stringbeans (one is anorexic and one bulemic, no joke) so they would rather DIE than compliment someone else on weight loss.

a guy I've known practicall all my life(well middle and high school)and now we go to college together saw me the other day and he said I was "looking good." and he was walking with his girlfriend so I know he wasn't trying to hit on me lol

My biggest compliment has come from a friend who works for a weight loss clinic, who called me during one of her consultations with a client, asking me for some recipes, and telling the client how much I've lost, how wonderful I look, and how committed I am, as an example to her client to motivate her!
Also my DH who I married 2 1/2 years ago weighing at around 277lbs, tells me that never in his wildest dreams would he have thought I would look so fabulous, and be so active physically. Seems like he can't take his eyes off of me, nowadays! That in itself is the greatest compliment ever!

Thanks Deb. Probably the real reason is that I don't go out much and when I do I am still wearing baggy clothes...afterall I am still over 200.

But I did get a compliment tonight!! So cute! Tonight I asked my DS to walk on my back because it has a kink in it. And he said...you know what is different about you Mom? You look flatter. I asked him what he meant and he said he didn't know just that I looked flatter...LOL!
Neither of the kids know I am trying to lose weight. Though they have kinda caught on that I am eating healthier and no junk. I have never complained about my weight in front of them...I have never used the word diet. My weight has never been an issue with them. DS is 9 and DD is almost 8.

For me it was my DH reaching for me in the dark and grabbing my hip asking "is this your knee ???"
Ehm, no, hun, it's the actual HIPBONE you can feel now, hahahahaaaaaaaa
I was lying there in the dark smiling from ear to ear !
Also when I am wearing these pretty tight trousers and he tells me "those trousers look hot on you hun"
What else does a woman want ?!!!
