A small piece of chicken or whatever meat I had leftover. Just something to get me going.
    Water

    9am -
Small side salad from Wendy's with no dressing.
    2 eggs
    Water

    1:30pm -
Grilled Chicken from Wendy's plain with no bun
1 cup or so of broc.
    Water

    4pm -
Single hamburger with no bun and no ketchup
    Water

    6pm -
A hardboiled egg or some other small snack
    Water
That's about it, I guess. Not a ton of variation, but, I think it's plenty.
That is NOT a lot of food. Frankly, I would double all the protein and fat items in that menu. And why no salad dressing??? Fat is what will help us feel full and satisfied.

Re: Why am I always hungry?

I used to eat more and I still didn't feel full, so I tried to pick a 'normal' amount of food.

I could always eat more! About the salad dressing, I'm just unsure about what is acceptable and what isn't, so I tend to steer clear of them all. Is caesar dressing (from Wendy's) okay? It states that it contains no sugar and no carbs. I'm always weary of the hidden ingredients, though.

Re: Why am I always hungry?

Hi, I am Rafaella, and this is one of my first postings.
I am new to Atkins, started on Dec the 4th 2005.
Induction went well, but only 5 pounds off. For me - this is big success.
On the subject of "hungry" - I am size 20, may be tide 18 now. I will obtain my weight in about 1 month or so......., but I don't ever feel extremely full, eaither...
I eat lots of veggies, some fruit, meats, and cheese. I also eat 1 apple/day,small. This is one of the fruits I cannot say "no" too. When I feel hungry, I get piece of Holland cheese or hard salami and a full bottel of H20.
That would keep me going for another hour or so... Than, I have sugar free jello and some whip - cream for snacks. Works, I am loosing weight. I am NOT sure how much yet, but I will know soon.
The only thing that bothers me at this time is the fact that I cannot eat with the rest of my family - I have to always think about "what, when and how to eat "... My menue is quiet limited and I am tired of constipation.
I know, I know, you would say I need more water and fiber. I am trying.Got flax meal ( I wish I knew how to cook it !).
Anyway, I am trying to do my best.
Hope to learn more from this website.
One thing for sure - I LOVE dark chocolate and my COFFEE. Have you noticed, coffee written with capital latter?
Opps, I forgot, I am doing LC WOL -

Re: Why am I always hungry?

I just want to point out to any newbies reading this that Rafaella is not currently doing Induction if she is eating apples and chocolate, and since she only started at the beginning of December, it's not really possible that she has gotten to the appropriate rungs in OWL to include those foods just yet.
Also, if there is caffiene in that coffee, that's not recommended either, according to DANDR.

Just a caution that if a person chooses to do Atkins their way, as opposed to how it is laid out in the book, there's no telling what their results will be.
Why this concerns me is two-fold.
One is that a person might keep allowing themselves 'treats' here and there and never deal with their emotional attachments to food, so that in the long run, this never turns into a way of eating for a lifetime.
The other is what we've seen and heard about on the board before - that someone does it there way, encounters some difficulty losing, then says "Atkins doesn't work for me."

I realize that having an apple occasionally is not like having a dozen donuts, but everything counts. Everything you eat or do helps to shape you into a person who is ready to handle their new way of eating for a lifetime. It can be a struggle in the beginning, but Dr. Atkins wrote out the diet in a specific way for specific reasons, and we know it works...so why mess with it.

Rafaella, just a note...if you decide you want to do Atkins your own way please feel free to check out the Low Carb sister board. Some people have success doing things their way, so whichever you decide, all the best to you!

You've often said that you've tried eating more and that you were still hungry, but what I'm wondering is how long did you try it? Was it one day? Two? Longer? My point is this ............... what if you took one week and simply ate until you felt full? I know that you've said that you don't feel full, but there must be a point where you say 'okay, I'm done' without having to walk away hungry. Even if it seems that you are eating a huge amount or even if it means eating frequently. Just eat whatever it takes. Amount wise, I mean. Not food choice wise. But what I am suggesting is to give your body an extended period, then see the results. I would think that worst case is that as long as you stay on Atkins, then I can't imagine that you can gain much weight (if any) if you over do the portions and calories. And it might surprise you with a weight loss without hunger.

You see, I think that most of us have spent so many years trying to measure portions and count calories that we underestimate what "normal" is. So that when we finally have the freedom to eat a normal sized meal, we feel like it's a HUGE amount of food and that we must be doing something wrong.

Regarding salad dressings, I think you gotta have them because straight lettuce isn't going to be very filling. What I did was read a lot of labels, buy different ones to taste test. And when I found one that I like (and I like a lot), I carry a small container of it when I know that I'll be having a salad from a fast food joint.

Re: Why am I always hungry?

Sorry I was off board yesterday.

Wendy's burgers are just beef and salt very Atkins legal as are the veggies on them the baon is real bacon on the burger and the Cheese is American which is legal too.
one thing you need to look at too when you look at a 0 carb food is that it is only 0 carb for the given serving size and if it is 0 for an ounce and you have 8 ounces because of the FDA labeling laws you could have just had 0 - 3.99999 carbs cause the law is set up to allow them to round down. Most long term successful Atkins folk round up .5 for every food not plain meat or fat to make up for this cause as you will see you can get losts of carbs from eating what you thought were 0 carb foods when you round them up.

the way we chart our foods and figure out what caused it si through trial and error and recording what we ate and how we were feeling before during and after and if we got cravings afterwards big red marks went in my food journal until a common food appeared for many of them and the light bulb went off.

Any change in your hunger today?
                Happy low carbing.

                  Thanks, dear,
I DO believe I am in the right spot for this forum.
I AM doign Atkins and proud of it.
And Yes, I am doing it only since Dec the 4th , but I am sure loosing and feeling great. And, if you are ( which I am sure you are by now ) familiar with Atkins plan, 5/day carbs add on are part of the diet post induction. SO.... A regular apple is 20 carbs, one forth of it is 5 carbs. One sugar free chocolate Hershey bite bar is 5 carbs as well. So, It is reasonable (again, for me) to consume up to 25-27 carbs by now, so I can have extra things as long as I know how to count my carbs.
And,BTW, thanks for the warm welcome. I enjoy to see so many nice people here.

Rafaella welcome to ADBB and congrasts on your loss doing your plan.

Actually we all are very familar with the Dr Atkins plan and know based on Dr Atkins NEW DIET REVOLUTION 2002 EDITION (you must have the older book. You will note there are notes saying ADBB uses the 2002 edition of DANDR in the forum discriptions)the lastest DANDR says to have nothing not on the acceptable foods lists during induction and then when we move to OWL to add the carbs back 5 net carbs per week from the foods acceptable for the rung which we are onto our induction veggies. Since you are 4 weeks into your Atkins, if you immediately moved to OWL after induction 14 days you would only be on the 2nd rung which is fresh dairy and not have apples as they are other friuts listed by Dr Atkins and not eatten until the 7th rung so as Moochiecat pointed out you are not doing Dr Atkins plan this board uses. As to using 5 of your carbs for candy well frankenfoods are a very very touchy subject here. If you don't have a copy if the 2002 DANDR you can pick up a copy new or used from AMAZON the link if below the posts or for about $7 at any store selling paperback books.

If you read the stickies in oour Induction and OWL boards you can see how the rules changed and when you read the newe DANDR you will understand the whys of the changes.

                    Happy low carbing.

Thanks, for your advices. I have the latest edition of Atkins, and his cookbook as well. I am not here to make you or anyone else feel "touchy" , but I am here to learn and to meet other LC members. If you don't like what I said ( and, I am still loosing weight), just move on - I still have the right to be here and express myself. And, personally, I would not feel bad if someone else feels touchy - there are planty of other forums to participate in , where I can have meaningful and respectful atmosphere between members.

P.S. Just keep in mind that diet is very individual and one have to live with it - meaning enjoy what you eat while LC WOL.

                      Take care,

Jeudrietr, I've been thinking about your appetite dilemna and I have questions for you. I understand that you use the terms "full" and "satisfied" synonymously, so I won't re-hash that.

                            1. Can you describe how you feel physically when you are "full"? For example, does full mean that you can feel a heaviness or a weight in your stomach, or something of a similar nature? So please describe your physical sensations.

                            2. Can you describe how you feel physically when you are "hungry"?
