Re: When people say: Whatever Works for you?

I think that most people would be helped by reducing their sugar intake (at the very least).

I also think that the BEST tribute to the Atkins WOL is your results. When you've lost 30, 60, 100 lbs on Atkins, your blood test results are good and you have more energy,

    WHO COULD ARGUE WITH THAT?

So, I say, lead by example and be the Atkins success story! Don't push atkins on others, but when they ask and truly want to know what worked for you, then share all you want about your fantastic new WOL/WOE.

    Cheers to Atkins : )

      HERE HERE!

My own unsolicited opinion is: SILENCE THE SKEPTICS WITH SUCCESS. You won't have to say anything. They'll beg you to tell them how you did it.

When people say "whatever works for you" they're effectively saying that you're a fluke, a freak of nature, a mutant, or an aberration.

You are not a fluke. What differentiates flukes from the mainstream is reproducability. If in only works for an insignificant number of people, then it's probaby a fluke. But when you apply the same methods to tens of thousands of different people and the results are the same, then it's not a fluke.

The Success Stories and Boerofe and After pics on these boards are testaments to the fact that Atkins isn't a fluke.

It's not the case for us pacific islanders. The climate is almost the same all-year round, with some months being more wet than others. There are some fruits that appear during the wetter seasons and some that appear during the drier seasons. We get sweet fruits all year round. Living in a tropical climate means two things.

        1. There was no need to store food. There's no reason to do so since there's no winter here. Also, the hot and humid climate made food storage almost impossible.

        2. People only ate what they needed. Surplus was an unknown concept.

Our bodies developed to be less active in colder months and much more active during the warm times, when we had to chase, catch and collect our food. Some stuff was stored for winter, but only what could be kept in a cold cache, which lets out most fruit and veggies.
Now you can imagine what happened when people from western temperate countries started to colonize tropical territories. You guessed it. People were now tasked to produce more than what was needed, either for trade or to feed their colonial masters.
