  • What the Heck

    K question, I have been doing this a long while and have never had this happen. Well I have been sooo thirsty I could drink and drink and drink it's nuts I ahve never been soooo thirsty I would wanna drink as much water as I have been. I have been taking in well over 6 liters of water peeing like mad my mouth is like the inside of a garbage dump YUCK This has all happened since I started lifting weights again but, I don't remember this from before WEIRD and plus my Hormones are whacked I had my TOM for 10 days and I ahve been spotting ever since Could this be hormone related I am ovulating now.

    Wow Sarah, I don't know. There are many reasons for excessive thrist. Did you happen to eat something particularly salty yesterday or this am like maybe a new brand of bacon?

      how much protein you downing? if you get your protein too high your body will convert the excess to sugar and then you got sugar issues going on which will cause you to pee more and dehydrate

          I upped my Protein a bit, not excessive though for my running and I am feeing really great with that I ahve more energy, but ya this thist is nuts. I was thinking the same thing thith it being too high so I got some keto strips and tested and my strips are BLACK holly crap no wonder I am soo thirsty. I am better right now but, Man I drank and drank and peed not excessive but, a lot and I dunno it's strange.

          Tonight my body is sooo hot I feel like I wanna strip my face is flushed and I am a sweat bucket. I ahve no idea what's going on but, Man it's strange hope it settles down in a bit.

            i keep trying to explain to you you don't have to up the protein just eat your normal Atkins if you feel tired or weak after a run then eat more Atkins style food an hour or 2 before the run. and then if you need post runing food enjoy more Atkins foods. the hand picked by Dr Atkins wife to run ANA right after Dr Atkins died was a orthopedic doc who does ultramarathon running the Iron man and both the NYC and the BOston Marathons and switched to Atkins because he couldn't lose weight just running He does those runs eating Atkins not gulping down proteins.

              I am eating all my Atkins Foods and I was actually getting to the Point of WAY too many calories so instead I opted for a 0 carb Whey which I ahve 2 times a day I don't think that is excessive I am not cutting out any of my foods or anything Just adding that. I am having 80 grams of Protein right now which is not excessive for the amout of exercsie I do and I do belive that everyones levels are different the recommended is just that recommended. If I am still in ketosis as I am now my body is using the Proteins and not converting them to sugar if it was I would no longer be in Ketosis is that right.

              I am doing something that Makes me feelBetter I feel More revitalized then I have in a very long time and I am sleeping better at night since I started a week ago.

                Oh, I was just wondering what was going on it's Weird and I really belive hormone related. Oh and I got a Blood sugar done today cause I was worried about Diabetis Never know and I am perfect so it's not that. Maybe I am having a metabolic breakthrough LOL

                  Okay I'm confused here now. how can you add 80 more grams of protein annd not cut out any foods and not have even more cals them before when you said you were having too many calories?

                  Sarah Dr Atkins points out in chapter 14 when we do vigorous exercise we can eat more carbs on Atkins. you can add more carbs and not more proteins and be in ketosis too.
                  there are many high protein plans that will make you lose weight and you will be in ketosis to burning off your excess body fats after you burn up the sugars from the proteins but they are not Atkins. The Atkins plan keeps the proteins at 30% through the entire program and 30% is way more then needed to grow new muscles repair body tissue and still have leftover for the free pool amino acids.

                    Glad you got your blood sugar tested. Electrolyte imbalance can cause some of those symptoms--or at least get whacked up when you have those symptoms.

                      Sarah, Atkins was made to be tailored to fit each different person's needs, so if you need to up the protein and its making you feel better, then whats the problem? You dont have to follow every guideline, I can guarantee that everyone here at ADBB
                      (with an expection to a few ) have done something "wrong" according to the rules. You gotta make it work for you, or you'll never stick with it. PERIOD! And your proof of that already, you've always done what it takes to make this WOE work for you and now look....you've lost 100lbs! You're fabulous!

                        Nothing to Be Confused about 2BIG I was starting to Go way to high in calories I am still eating all my Atkins food habe dropped the calories and added 2 shakes that are 110 calories a piece. I was eating MORE and MORE of everything and not feeling satisfied with my exercise this makes me satisfied and makes me feel good.

                        I think that's what matters I feel good with what I am doing and that's WHAT matter TO ME. I have to live with myself and so I am going to do what it takes to make me feel good. I don't know a person here who would not want to do the same.

                          The problem? It is very simple if you move outside Dr Atkins guidelines you are not doing his plan and are doing your own plan which is fine if it works for you and you don't suffer any long term health problems as a result of doing your own thing. But there is no long term health data to back up the healthy aspect of doing your own plan and advising others to follow your new plan is dangerous. I'm sure everybody over 35 remembers the deaths from the high protien low cal diets in the late 70s

                            So how you feeling this moring? hope you are watchingyour electrolytes cause the more dehydrates you get and keep adding water the lower your water soluble vits minerals and electrolytes will be getting. the hot feeling is can also be a symptom of this as your body temp rises.

                            see it is saying still eating all my Atkins food that is confusing cause you just said you lowered your calories and added the extra protein. Something in your atkins foods had to go to lower the cals and sub the protein drink in. exactly what did you remove to lower your calories? If you added 80 more grams of proteins you had to add more fats to be in Atkins ratios.

                            As i said above their are many many high protein low carb plans out their. if you are upping your protein intake at that cost of your carbs from the healthy low GI veggies and fruits in OWL then you are robbing your body of the vitamins minerals electrolyes and anti oxidents needed for a healthy long term life.

                              No I didn't add 80 more Grams of Protein I added 46 for a toptal of 80 alltogether. So I am eating on average 1600 calories of Atkins foods Good meats salads veggies and Putting in 2 shakes that brings me to 80 grams of Protein in a day.
                              And what I ment by lowering my calories I was going way up inot the 2200 to 2500 calories and haven't lost in 2 months so I am working my Atkins my Protein is still in the 30% range for the amount I eat so I am not breaking any rules. I am still following atkins.

                              Oh, I am feeling good this morning am down a Pound so it's all good. I feel fab had an Omlet this morning with celery,onion tomato, and cheese it was sooo good.

                              I am taking my suppliments for Minerals and I also already took my synthyroid and cytomel my Mutivit and my Chromium.
