        Re: What the Heck

First off Sarah, you are amazing and your success is amazing!
The concern for everyone here is FIRST off your health and well being. Second, is the mission of the board. That being Atkins. When someone adapts the plan to their own needs....that is fine and everyone is free to do so. But, at that point you are no longer doing Atkins. We do not want to confuse ANYONE. 2big is giving you IMHO.......the best Atkins information anyone can ever get on this board.

You're doing great Sarah....don't worry so much.

            Thank you for the clarifications.

so you are not adding protein you changed your choice of protein food from say a steak to a drink. there is a huge difference in that.

Haven't lost in 2 months come on Sarah we have all been clebrating your posted losses just last week you were 4 pounds to 100 lost.

              Re: What the Heck

Just my experience....When I began OWL, I found my CCLL and I maintained eating at that level. However, as I got more physically fit, I increased my exercise considerably. Then I hit a period of time, where I was hungry all the time. According to the physical signs of ketosis and to those sticks, I was in ketosis, but I had lost all of my appetite suppression and I was getting cravings. On top of that, I was also feeling really fatigued to the point where I needed to take power-naps at 2PM daily.

I reviewed my menues. Dropped foods to see if they were affecting me. They weren't. I, then, thought I wasn't eating enough fat, so I increased my fat percentage slightly. It did not suppress my appetite, I still felt washed out and I stopped losing inches. So I dropped the extra fat I added and went up slightly on the protein. No change: I was still hungry and still tired.

I re-read DANDR and found a little blurb in Chapter 11 about the carb withdrawal symptoms---namely lack of energy---and the blood sugar instability symptoms. Dr. Atkins suggested that eating a slightly higher level of carbs might help with the problem. So I added an additional 5 net carbs to my CCLL. I felt alittle less fatigued, my appetite was as out of control and I lost a pound. I added 5 net carbs until I stopped losing weight and found out that my CCLL had changed as I became a smaller and more physically active person. Then I re-read DANDR and found the CCLL chart---the more physically active you are the higher your carb tolerance can be.

The added bonus to eating those extra carbs was that I was able to eat "more" veggies, fruits and grains---it helped keep my bowels regular and I found I didn't need to swallow as many vitamin supplements because my diet was able to provide those things for me.

That's exactly what is happening with me. I'm always hungry and tired. I'm doing a ton of exercise but not losing weight or inches. I've been on induction since I started back in May....I guess it's not working out for me anymore. I should look into moving to OWL.

                      Re: What the Heck

Sarah, you haven't lost nearly 100 pounds by doing things wrong.

And don't you even think about not posting. I will find you.

Sarah, Atkins was made to be tailored to fit each different person's needs, so if you need to up the protein and its making you feel better, then whats the problem? You dont have to follow every guideline, I can guarantee that everyone here at ADBB
(with an expection to a few ) have done something "wrong" according to the rules. You gotta make it work for you, or you'll never stick with it. PERIOD! And your proof of that already, you've always done what it takes to make this WOE work for you and now look....you've lost 100lbs! You're fabulous!

Some people think its "their way or the highway" ... don't let 'em get to ya.

                              Re: What the Heck

I just want to be perfectly clear here. The mission of "this" board is Atkins. We have a sister board that is for other low carb lifestyles. www.lowcarbbulletinboard
Our goal here is to help EVERYONE succeed with the Atkins Way of Eating.
When people make changes and adaptations it is fine. I have no problem what so ever with that, none of us do. But, we need to be very clear that alot of the adaptations are NOT Atkins and DO NOT work for everyone.
All we want is to help people here in their Atkins Journey. It works, if you work it and 2big and Megs have posted here "how and why" it works.
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but we are only looking out for the best of everyone.

Yeah...first thing I thought of was diabetes with that kind of thirst, though that's unlikely on Atkins! Good for you, getting your blood sugar tested. Can't say I have a clue what might be causing this really, but I do hope it passes soon hun.
