Since there are no carbs, I imagine these would be alright, no?
remeber if the food was manufactured outside the US the label is not the FDA one and they can already have thefiber removed from the total carbohydrates. UK lables do that.
there is no soy in shiratiki noodles you can seethem if you go a google search of shitatiki noodle

          Re: OMG....Shiritaki Noodles!

Would anyone who can get these noodles locally be willing to ship them for a fair price? I know they would have to be send priority.... I really don't want to pay for a bunch of noodles if I don't like them, and I don't want to pay 30 bucks for one bag either!!!

If anyone has any info pm me! Thx!

if you get the podwer you can make your own noodles and if you get the nonrefigerated noodls they last up to a yr according to the manufacturer in the US.

                Re: OMG....Shiritaki Noodles!

I bought the powder (flour), but I've never made the noodles. I wonder how you'd go about that. I use the flour for making puddings, and other desserts. I am a member of a diabetic forum, and they turned me on to these puddings. All you do is take your favourite sugarfree drink and add a very small amount of the flour (mix really well with a mixer as you gradually add the flour) and voila you have pudding. The pudding is very very filling and if you have it before a meal it helps to slow the absorption of the meal and avoid high sugar spikes, for its a good snack all on its own, and its a good way to get in your fiber.

I don't want to beat a dead horse with this thread, but for those of you who are new to this WOE, and think you can't live without pasta, you have GOT to try these things!!!

I've been eating them Asian-style for a few weeks now, but for the first time I boiled them and used them like PASTA with tomato sauce and meatballs...OH MY GOSH!!! Can I tell you these suckers are a FANTASTIC SUBSTITUTE for pasta!!! I don't even MISS the pasta! I can't believe more people don't know about these!!!! My husband was *SO* excited (he's diabetic, so he can chow down on these)...

EXPERIMENT, people...you will be shocked at how many healthy alternatives there are to day-to-day stuff!

                  VIVA LA LOW-CARB!!!!!!
                  Next up...Shiritake Alfredo!!! Mmmmmmmm..mmmmmmm...can't wait!

                        Re: OMG....Shiritaki Noodles!

                        sorry Binsk missed your question
noodles from the powder is very easy if you can get pickling lime a food grade calcium hydroxide according to the manufacturers site Konjac Foods
                        Ingredients
                        • 1 tablespoon of glucomannan (contains 6 grams of soluble fiber.)
                        • 1/8 teaspoon of pickling lime, a food grade calcium hydroxide.

                        Procedure:
Pour 2 cups of cold water into a pot. Stir in a 1/8 teaspoon of pickling lime. Then, add 1 tablespoon of Konjac Glucomannan powder, stirring continuously to a boil. Boil the mixture for about 3 minutes. Remove from heat. A thermally stable (non-reversible) gel is formed once the mixture cools down. Cut gel into small pieces, dip in water or steam about 3-5 minutes and then cook in the way you like.

Thanks 2Big. I'm not quite sure what shape of noodles that I would make (maybe lasagna), but I guess the first thing is to find pickled lime.
