  • ok, how about an atkins friendly liquid diet?

gonna need tons of advice on this one - for medical reasons (nothing major i'm ok) i'm gonna need to be on a liquid/really soft food diet for 2 weeks maybe a whole month. *sigh*

i absolutely will not deviate from plan for this, so if my options are heavy cream, protien shakes and raw eggs then that's what it is.

however, if any of you brilliant experienced folks have better answers PLEASE share them! i really need help with this one!

      thanks for the link -

i just won't be able to chew for a while, so the soft foods in the thread should work.

The first thought I got was liquid fat. Nasty haha.

I've made my own soups on Atkins, really, really tasty!

Well, I was thinking about how I made them but I can't remember lol. I know it was beef and tomato though. So I'll try and get my sister and see if she remembers how I made it. I tend to just go with the flow though, I dont write any recipes down and I don't get them from books so if one of us can remember, I'll share lol.

I'm pretty sure it was boiling a pan of water with one beef or vegetable stock cube mixed in, then adding the beef cuts and leaving them in there for 2.5-3 hours on a low heat until the beef just fell apart. Then I added some butter to flavor it, and later on the can of tomatoes, then again covered and left it for a few hours.

But I did something to thicken it and I just can't remember! I would have said flour, but I only have Atkins Bake Mix and it's horrible, horrible stuff so I wouldnt have put that in lol

Sorry! As soon as one of us remembers, I'll let you know.

Id also suggest soups... Maybe try pureeing veggies and adding the puree into chicken or beef or fish stock. Would add lots of flavor if you could roast veggies before hand in theoven with some olive oil and then puree them up. If you are using fish stock you could add a can of crab meat (thats already broken up) to it and get some protein in that way.

You can buy a tin of pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. There are many soups you can make with this, add curry and cream, or cumin and cream. You can also add sour cream or cream cheese and mexican spices (chili, cayenne, cilantro, chipotle). Its good mixed with chicken broth and a little allspice. I like this because you can spice it up and you hardly taste the pumpkin, and you can make it as thick as you like by adjusting the amount of broth or water.

A zillion years ago I had jaw surgery and was wired shut for five weeks. It's pretty amazing what you can throw into a blender and puree....lol
Because everything lacks texture you'll find you really enjoy food that has strong flavours.

Broccoli soup (with pureed broccoli) is easy to make. Also, egg drop soup is VERY simple--I just heat up some broth to a boil, and my eggs, and voila! Eggs in that form make a great noodle soup as well.

                              Oh... I wish you well.
Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? They have LOTS of stocks/clear soups in the pour-boxes. Also, chicken broth comes like that in the grocery stores. You could puree up some vegies to add to them --- place a dollup of sour cream on some of them. Maybe, in a pinch, you could stir in some natural baby food that's already pureed.
