Re: Gaing Muscle in Ongoing Induction

yep every phase of Atkins is ketogenic by definiton and as those machines proved you can add muscle mass doing even induction Rational being. There were several topics in the exercise forum about the myth of needing to eat high carb to grow muscles cause glucogenises will cause you to eat your muscles if you don't mentality many muscle heads think they "know". Even the guru of Ketogenises and bodybuilding Lyle McDonald says that glucogenesis fear is unwarrented in his papers written as a follow up to his book.

Rational Being Can you provide some scientific studies to back up your claims? I'd love to see them.

While professional body builders are using a ketogenic plan of their devise to cut fat and go to an unhealthy body fat to better show off their muscles of about 4% for a competition they could do Atkins and shed the fat too but they are in a hurry for a competiton and will not be eating that way for life as they tend to "make up eat" between competitons training.
Eat your Atkins and do your workouts and you can shed fat and add muscle tissue too. Your body will tell you as Dr Atkins informs you if you need to eat more ot not.

Instead of calling me ignorant you need to get educated brook. Go talk to a body builder then come back here and apologize.
      Hey, RB.

Your assertation Induction is the only phase of Atkins that is ketogenic only re-enforces the perception of your ignorance on the subject. Personally, I remain in ketosis eating upwards of 60 grams of carb a day, and being the immensely educated person you are, you know that is 3 times induction levels. That's hardly "essentially induction".

Hmmm. It seems that you're still pulling info from pooma.com (pulled out of my @ss.com ) - again, and it's not my education on low-carbing that's in question. Really now. It's getting boring.

Being this isn't a body builders forum and studies referred to here show that what we said was accurate and show you are indeed wrong, as would a simple google search, I have an idea. How about you hold your breath and wait for that apology?

I don't think I've laughed so hard before.

btw, There is no such thing as tone...you lose BF and add muscle to better show definition...hence how we gain muscle, even on induction

Re: Gaing Muscle in Ongoing Induction

Just alittle side note about "ketosis"....

When fat is broken down, it produces ketone bodies: Beta-Hydroxbutyric acid, Acetoacetic Acid (and Acetone.) I put Acetone in ( ) because the acetoacetic acid can break down into acetone in the blood.

Beta-hydroxybutyric acid makes up the largest proportion of the ketone bodies, about 75%. It is not detected by the ketostix.

Acetoacetic acid is second. It is tested by the ketostix.

Acetone is tested by breath analysis and is in the lowest percentage.

So it's entirely possible and probable to be in lipolysis/ketosis without having the ketone breath and without registering in the ketostix.

Re: Gaing Muscle in Ongoing Induction

Hey RB- So a bodybuilder doesn't approve of our WOE. Who cares?? Really? I would concure we don't add as much lean muscle mass as a body builder...cause they consume 8000-10000 of calories a day....not to mention the protein shakes....all the stacks they do ( you know about the stacks right....since you are so up on bb). They want to put ON weight...in the form of muscle. The stress they put on their muscles to tear more. We want to lose weight, fat, and not lose....or gain some muscle. There is a lot more to building muscle like that besides diet. I would say the majority of the people here are doing this to be healthy....not to look like Arnold. The main difference in diet, besides calories....is the fat intake. That makes a difference when you are trying to get down to 4% body fat....but more for looks rather than building muscle. Why do you think they dehydrate themselves before a show? Cause it's helps them? No...cause it makes them LOOK more ripped.
