  • down 12lb but where is it???

    So, I am down 12 lbs!!! Woo Hoo!!!! The thing is, I can't see that a difference in my body or feel much in my clothes (I will say my pants were very tight before, but I refused to go up a size ). I measured and I have lost an inch off my waist (woo hoo) but as far as hips and thighs I am not sure, I am afraid I can't get the tape in the same place twice!! Has anyone else has this experience? How many pounds did you need to drop before you could see it??? I know were all built differently, but 12lbs is about 25% of the total loss I am going for and I figured I would see it !!! Thanks so much for all of the support everyone!! I would have quit already if it was not for this board!!!!

    woo hoo ofr you! I'm a scale lover so I didn't measure till I'd already lost mega weight sorry.

      I am 40% of the way to my goal (-16 so far) and I feel the same way. Even my hubby said he doesn't see it too much (we are very honest ). But, the people who have not seen me in the last few weeks have commented and they didn't even know I was losing weight. I think we just get used to seeing ourselves and we see the same thing regardless. Just like I really never felt like I was as big as I was - It just creeps up and it is now creeping down.

      I am firmly convinced that weight lost through exercise is way more quick to show up and so far I have been lax in that area. I joined the 1st day of Spring Challenge for some good ol' motivation!
      Hang in there. When we get down a bit more, even we should start to pat our own backs!

        You have a great point! I never realized I was getting so big, I just woke up one day and bam, I was a Fatty McButterpants. I need to get off my ample behind and workout more. I am going to stay on induction, and for the next 2 weeks I am going to try to workout at least 5x a week.

          Good for you CaleyMarie! It looks like you have a good attitude.

          And a big LOL at "Fatty McButterpants!" I am acquainted with being that lady!
          No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

            I would take it a little easier than that. I did the same thing not too long ago and ended up sidelined for WEEKS with tendonitis in both my ankles. It really hurt and I could not do much at all. It caused me to fall off the exercise wagon and so a lot of good "overdoing" it did me!

            Plus, you'll burn out. Try 2-3x per week to start. Make sure you vary your activities and the length of your sessions so your body will get the most out of it. I find that going in each day with a specific amount of time or a specific workout really helps. Otherwise, I find myself "bargaining" on how to fudge what i should do or when to leave. Sad isn't it?? But, hey, we are all here to be honest!!

              I started exercising my second week. I think that made a real difference...but here is what happened with my measurements:

              Week 1:
              Upper arm: -0.25"
              Upper Chest: -1"
              breast: -1"
              lower chest (where the bra band is) -1/2"
              Waist -1"
              Upper hip (above the belly button) -3/4"
              Lower hip -3/4"
              Upper Thigh -1"

              Week 2
              Upper arm: -0"
              Upper Chest: -1/2"
              breast: -1/2"
              lower chest (where the bra band is) -0"
              Waist -1 1/2"
              Upper hip (above the belly button) -0"
              Lower hip -1/2"
              Upper Thigh -1"

              Week 3
              Upper arm: -0.25"
              Upper Chest: -1 1/2"
              breast: -1/2"
              lower chest (where the bra band is) -1/2"
              Waist -1/2"
              Upper hip (above the belly button) -1"
              Lower hip -1 3/4"
              Upper Thigh -1 1/2"

              Week 4
              Upper arm: -0"
              Upper Chest: -0"
              breast: -1/2"
              lower chest (where the bra band is) -1"
              Waist -3/4"
              Upper hip (above the belly button) -1"

              As you can see, each week there weren't HUGE changes, but when you add it all up...WOWOW!

              Keep with it and in the next few weeks, you'll really start seeing differences! I'm convinced the exercises were tightening everything up...I've been slacking on the exercise and it's showing in my measurements (if not on the scale...down another 2 lbs)

                Ya know what. I am sad too bc I have only lost an inch and 10 pounds but I am confident that it will all start to show sooner or later. I am going to stay on induction for a while bc I need some harsh punishment. Oh by the way we must be related. I am Beach whale Mcbutterpants!

                  Too funny gg!! I am not woried about the 5x a week workout. I play tennis regularly and I am in decent shape for a woman of my size. I am planning different things, swimming one day, raquetball, eliptical, maybe a class. My BF has winter break this week (he's a HS teacher)so we are going to make the most of the gym. VR, thanks for posting the measurements, it really does add up!! I need to get better with the tape. I thought about making little dots with a permanant marker, but I mentioned this to my BF and he told me I am getting obsessive and nutty, so I gave up on that idea!!! I am going to visit my family in California 4/14 and I really want to be down to at least a size 10 by then. I am going to stick with induction for another 2 weeks, then see how I feel afterwards. I just want to see results on my bod and not just the scale!!!! I bought a really cute bikini and hung it on the wall right across from our bed as motivation. I hope to look good in it by June!!! (as of this minuet it is a scary sight to behold) Thanks again to all of you for the kindness and support!!! Big hugs to all of you!!!

                    hey i have to agree with what everyone else said about excercise...people will be able to tell a lot more when you tone up....also like u said and kinda along the same lines as what cypress said, often times we buy clothes that...in reality...are way to small for us. call it denial or wishful thinking w/e the fact is that when we do loose wieght and finally those clothes fit but aren't "falling off" it can be discouraging....but scales and inches don't lie so don't worry u are on the right track


                    also something to think about...my mom once theorized that we have a permant mental picture of ourselves as we were when we were 16-18 and i think that has some truth...i don't know about you but i was on the heavy side then...around 180 always....so even when i got down to 150 i didnt see myself as 150 i still saw myself as 180 and likewise when i gained weight i didn't really see a difference i still thought of my self as around 180.....i don't know if anyone else has expericned it or what your past is but that might explian somethings....

                      ciaobella, I never thought of it that way, but you're right. For the most part I don't see any difference in myself now than I did in high school...EXCEPT when I look at photographs of then and now side by side. WHOAH that's an eye opener. LOL

                        I think your mom is right on Bella. I was always a bigger girl 178-180 but I was really athletic, so I guess I looked and felt better. I am just going to take it week by week, workout, stick to induction for another 2 weeks and see how I look and feel. I just found a cool set of 12 toning exersizes in Self Magizine that I am going to try to do everyday. Thanks again for all the advice and support!! xoxoxoxo

                          ciaociao I can so realte to that metal image thing. when i was 180 pounds I thought somebody else was wearing my hat in the mall and turned to see who had one like me being reflected in the window LOL it was me I just didn't realize I was that small. If it is still up you should see my goal post. I actually thought that was a pic of my skinny cousin and was getting mad they kept handing my pics of her to look at from the event. I was like hey I was there too and I posed with you where are my pics??? I fina;;y said something and was told that was me. I was like no way that person is way too small to be me but it was. Our mental image of our body never matches what it really is

                            It took a 30 pound loss for me to really see a difference. I had to lose 40 pounds before people starting saying, "Are you losing weight?" I had an acquaintance ask me last week. Have you lost some weight? When I responsded with yeah, 65 pounds. She said no way. Either I still look fat, or she didn't think I had that much to lose. I didn't know how to take that reaction.

                              I just need to get my booty moving, I used to be a workout fiend, but for the last month I can't get motivated. I am playing tennis and raquetball, but I see that as more for fun, not a workout. I guess I am just anxious to be little. I am tired of the size 14's I want to wear my 12's and 10's again!!!!
