I'm curious. I've been thinking about not weighing weekly, and I'd like to know how often you do, and why. Do we really need the scale? Is it a must? Can we gauge our success merely in measurements and how we feel?

Re: How often do you weigh?
I weigh once a day. every morning. like clockwork. I get up, use the bathroom, brush my teeth, strip, get on the scale. Yes its not recommended to weigh daily but I feel better if I know Im doing alright. I need that constant affirmation. I measure once a week.Female, 30

Re: How often do you weigh?
I've been weighing once a week, though I was thinking about putting the scale on ice til my birthday on April 30th. This may seem rather strange, but weighing myself and seeing a stall really gets me down, and I could not weigh every day, that would drive me bonkers because I fluctuate too much, and it gets to me big time. I guess that isn't really an option though, since I will be looking for my CCLL soon, and I can't find it unless I can tell if I'm losing weight or not. Hmm, never thought of that before. Well drat! Looks like I'll be weighing at least once a week still.

Re: How often do you weigh?
I used to weigh many many times a day...I moved the scale to our spare bathroom, and now I weigh once in the morning, usually every day. I couldn't stand not to weigh every day....the anticipation kills me! If I forget in the morning rush, as soon as I remember, I'm wondering until the next morning!

Re: How often do you weigh?
I weigh daily (or almost daily) but I am so used to seeing it go up and down that it doesn't get to me. It is just my routine and I am comfortable with it. The plateaus make me that much happier when the whooshie comes! Also, I find it motivates me to stay true to my water goals and activity goals b/c they really reflect on the scales!Jennifer

Re: How often do you weigh?
Like cypressgirl I tend to get on the scales daily (after going to the loo in the mornings) but it has never made me feel upset when it goes up and down seemingly at random during the whole time I have been Atkineering. Sometimes I weigh myself in the evenings too out of interest.
In a way it has made me less bothered about my weight rather than more, as I have learned that it can vary up to 6 pounds during the day too as well as from day to day.
I wait till I have seen a lower reading for a week before counting it as a 'loss' - otherwise I would have had to change my stats on a daily basis over the last 31 months!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: How often do you weigh?
I weigh daily, because every time in my life that I've really lost control of my weight, it's been because I stopped weighing. I can put on a lot of weight before my clothes start fitting tighter. I'm not sure where I hide it!
I've been debating dropping down to once a week, though, because I've been gaining a lot of water weight with the exercising that I've been doing and it can get me down, even though I don't want to let that happen. We are what we repeatedly do. Re: How often do you weigh?
Scales are torture devices!!! I am now weighing in once a week. I hit a plateau when I quit smoking and had to start BP meds. I worked hard every day to keep my carbs down to 25/day. It was soooo depressing to see a 3 lb weight gain overnight. I knew it wasn't an accurate reading of my acutal progress. So...I weigh once a week at school on the nurse's official scale with the sliding weights. It is more accurate, and she is such a motivator!!

Re: How often do you weigh?
Originally posted by Just JamieI weigh once a day, but I am trying to cut back. I DO obsess over the number and feel like a failure if it doesn't move. I know it is stupid and yesterday was the first day I stayed away from the scale. I want to only weigh once a week.
that is my goal too, but I cant help it...once a day...I can go a day without it...but more more. It is stupid and ridiculous that Im so adicted to it. I feel fat and that Im doing everything wrong if the scale doesnt move.
How stupid can I be? I can live without chocolate and coffee..I can eat eggs ( that I hate) I can have enough discipline to work out and drink litres of water, and still I cant control my obsession with the scale. Last week I told my bf to hide the scale, the next day while he was working, I looked everywhere around for it. Yes...like a junkie looking for drugs...
I need to stop this.
As ridiculous as it may seem, as soon as I see that the scale didnt move I feel so down I even lose my will and energy. I feel tired and sad...and edgy...

Re: How often do you weigh?
I am not sure on the scale thing. I would LOVE to weigh myself all day long, but if it doesn't move I get upset. I also think that if you don't weigh, you can kid yourself about any weight gain. That is how I got to 179 pounds!! I knew I was gaining, but couldn't force myself to step on the scales!! When I finally did, I saw I had gained 19 pounds in 3 months!!! AHHH!!!!! So I try to do it every 3 days.
What would we do without it?

Re: How often do you weigh?
I make myself wait and only weigh once a week. I can't stand the ups and downs, once a week gives me a good idea of where I'm going.Chriss Female 246/236/160 5'3"
